This is a headline from the Wednesday Detroit Free Press:
Major US steel manufacturer laying off 600 in Dearborn, citing weak auto demand

The trade deficit with Canada comes from energy that we import (oil, natural gas, electricity) which amounted to $170 billion last year.
Instead of violating the USMCA, Trump could have just renegotiated the terms to make it more favorable to the US. It was up for renewal in 2026. Instead for...
This is an important point. The Maverick and other vehicles use parts that are manufactured in various countries such as China, Mexico, and Canada; and would likely be subject to tariffs. Auto production involves complex supply chains that would be disrupted by tariffs. I won't get into other...
It would be silly to lock a thread that discuss potential price increases. If you don't like it, there are many other threads you can read.
I imagine there could be legal challenges since imposing tariffs would be a violation of USMCA that Trump signed in 2020.

I posted a couple weeks ago that if one is considering buying a Maverick that you should do so now before tariffs are implemented. Someone complained that the post was political and the thread was locked. The president-elect yesterday reiterated that he would impose a 25% tariff by executive...
The new administration tariff policies may include a 100% tariff on cars manufactured in Mexico. At least it was mentioned several times in speeches and he seemed serious. If this ever comes to pass who knows. But I'm always forward-looking with my financial decisions.
Curious about why you think manual windows would cost more than automatic. One reason I traded my Subaru is that the automatic windows started mal-functioning. Fixing one of them cost $800.
Totally agree with OP. I have a Maverick XL and find most of the tech superfluous. Main thing I care about is reliability. But most American car buyers seem to love comfort and gadgets, even the Chevy Spark has been discontinued.
I see that 4 levels are offered, which are:
PremiumCARE
ExtraCARE
BaseCARE
PowertrainCARE
Which of these would match the bumper-to-bumper warranty that comes with the truck?
My three month old xl hybrid has been getting about 36 mpg. Using AC about 50% of the time in mostly city driving, and driving with a light foot. I try to use econ mode but usually forget.
I ordered an XL Hybrid in Sept 22 and received in April 24. I'm surprised you order has not been filled by now if it's an Eco-boost. I'd would elevate to the general manager and ask what's up, because at some dealers there are many of those on lots at MSRP.
I think the issue is that CD's and even vinyl have better quality sound than music from a streaming service such as Spotify. But I'm no expert, that's just what I've noticed.
While I get the comments about not buying Chinese, it's sort of ironic that people don't seem to hesitate about buying Chinese parts and accessories for their Maverick, often from Chinese websites like Temu and Alibaba. This includes the American flag door projectors that are made in China.
Interesting thread about this issue. It appears that if you install lifts or bigger tires and your CV joints go bad then at least some dealers will not cover it under the warranty.
