how do we know the hardware is going to rust??Much like the Maverick, buying the first edition probably wasn't the best idea. Guess I'm off to Home Depot for bolts and weather stripping.
I also think that possibly, weather stripping might hold moisture longer that could be problematic. I will also evaluate after monitoring the area.how do we know the hardware is going to rust??
and the weather stripping might help but I'm not sure it is 100% necessary. maybe at some point after it's been installed for a while I'll check into how much stuff got in there
Had my original kit for months, like many waiting for more 'comfortable' weather before attempting. Seriously great post & recommendations. Have Home Depot here too. How many of each bolt size did you buy? May be clear if I opened the Mabett box, but wanted to ask just in case I can't figure it out. Thanks!
Are the new kit bolts bigger?
Since pretty much every part is either, painted, anodized, galvanized, or zinc plated, there is little chance of direct contact between anything.
So when it comes to existing bolts on the maverick. Those are all galvanized and we are only sandwiching anodized aluminum pieces between them and the truck.
It's not. I applied fluid film before I installed it.
It's possible, but depends how good you are at working underneath vehicles. As a test, crawl under with a 2' breaker bar and try to remove the structural bolts. If you can get that done, the rest is relatively easy. See this post.
