Is anyone else surprised by how small the washer fluid reservoir is.

It appears that the reservoir holds about 1 1/2 - 2 cups or 12 - 16 ounces. It is as small as the 1970’s era cars that used a soft bag like reservoir. There are plenty of places under the hood for a larger container on my hybrid. Disappointing. Glad I no longer live in snow country. Anyone else out there notice this?

I love my Maverick but, this could have better.
not mine.

I’ve not had to fill mine yet. But if it’s the same design as what is on my Bronco Sport, the first time I filled it on my BS it didn’t take very much. Then I checked it again a few hours later and there was more room to add more fluid. So I assumed it just took a while to let an air bubble rise to the top or something. Ultimately like others have posted I put nearly a gallon into my BS.

One other thought. Several years ago a friend of mine had a Mercedes and put the RainX washer fluid in it. His washer fluid sensor started going off and he learned that on the Mercedes he can’t use washer fluids like the RainX kind. Had to be the plain washer fluid without the water beading additive or the sensor would mess up. I didn’t see anything in the owners manual on our Maverick that mentioned this. But perhaps something to ask about at the dealer???

Question/answer has been beaten to death already, but if you are more of a visual learner, here is what it looks like when not installed. Much more than 16 ounces. I can also echo what many others said about dumping a gallon in. When I bought mine, dealer definitely did not top it off from the factory. I stopped by a gas station and poured an entire gallon in.

Thank you for sharing.

If your vehicle is level you can see how there will still be a lot of room left in the reservoir too. It's not the best design, but it's certainly adequate in terms of capacity.

I also stated earlier the Escapes had a 2.5L capacity. That was incorrect. It's 1.5L:

That, IMHO, is unacceptably small. I've filled the Mavericks maybe twice in the 7 months I've owned it but that damn Escape I'd have to fill almost daily with the drives I was doing.

Ditto. My dealer didn't fill it either (or was it supposed to be filled at the factory?)
Also my dealer left the tires at 45 psi.
But the truck itself has had zero problems so far, 1 month / 1 k miles.

My 14 year old ram has the factory washer fluid still in the reservoir (I know,I'm weird),my wife however needs hers refilled at least twice a year in her caravan.our maverick is 10 months old and I haven't had to refill it yet.

I agree, used to be you'd know it was empty when stuff stopped coming out of it! Of course, those were the days when you checked the tire pressures and popped the hood to check the coolant and oil before you took a 3 hour trip. Times sure have changed but you can see why vehicle costs have gone up so much... airbags, TP sensors, auto headlight sensors, washer fluid sensors, etc.

For some reason all of the reservoirs in Ford vehicles will not take a full gallon of fluid. It has been like that for years. My Jeeps have all been like that also.
