Had my first drive today. 72 miles round trip. 44.7 mpg. That's nothing like what you guys are getting, but it's good enough for me!

First time ever driving a hybrid. Put it in eco for most of the drive and had AC on for the drive home.

The trick is the regen braking the more you allow Regen braking the more the battery recharges, and the longer you drive on battery power.

I never drive in eco. Usually normal and sometimes sport. Some trips Im over 53mpg and others in the mid 30s. All depends on a lot of things. Overall my average mpg is 43!

Did this nice leisurely trip from Chicago to Muskegon, MI over the weekend.
-Driving mode: Normal
-kept speed under 50mph as much as possible
-did this with bed crossbars and an empty cargo rack attached to the crossbars... Makes me wonder what I could have gotten without the added drag.

@Daverick - nice!

That's up there in the top few percent of all drivers.

Am I doing it right? Same commute to work every day. Mixed highway and city. Learning the quirks of a hybrid.

(Last image is a small detour around my neighborhood due to road work today)

I'm Jekel and hyde. In my Hybrid, I drive conservative, in my BMW M5, not so much. But the M5 begs to be driven a little aggressively.

I have 1100 miles on my Maverick right now.
Totally understand. The Miata and the motorcycle like to be thrashed.

The weekend before would have been a snow test for the Maverick.

I'll start this thread with a score of 62 MPG over 6.1 miles with an average speed of 18.3 MPH. (Over 2 consecutive trips)

I got this number by sticking to L gear on Eco mode when driving through a small town. L gear maximizes regenerative braking, and can be helpful for MPGs at low speeds.

Since L gear is simulated, you can use it in small towns and still reach higher speeds like 40, though I'd probably switch to D if I were going 35+.
Who drives at an avg speed of 18.3 mph?

I ran a couple of errands yesterday, and happened to notice this "trip summary when I stopped.
Ford Maverick Hypermiling Challenge for 2.5L Hybrid 1
" I wasn't even trying to hypermile - just driving normally in "Eco" mode, with ACC engaged. This was city driving in moderate traffic, with speed limits between 40-45 mph, lots of stop signs, traffic lights, and lots of turns.

Loving my Maverick Hybrid!

Everyone in city traffic.

0-35 stop.
0-35 stop.
0-45 longer stop because it was a busier road.

Average: 18.3 mph.
People tend not to look at their average speed so it seems more jarring to them.

18.3 mph over the entire time the cluster was on. Maybe the vehicle idled 5 minutes at the end of the drive. That skews the data on a shorter drive. Maybe you got stuck at a lot of long red lights. Same thing - lots of time the timer keeps running but you don't move.

It doesn't mean someone is driving down the road at under 20 mph. It's an average.
