I do that over half the time driving the 0.3 to my mail box and back.Oh and to hedge my bets if there’s no minimum
I drive a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid which I bought new, 105k miles. Haven't had to change out the break pads.Never having owned a hybrid, do brake pads pretty much last forever?
Aaarrrggghhh!!! It just came to me! What mpg would be possible if the adaptive cruise control had an H button for 20 foot Hypermiling. Really test it out??Here's a "HYPERMILLER" and Nascar tip (not me )
Tailgate, really get close to the 18 wheelers bumper and "big lifted" pickups. You'll be amazed (or dead ) by the jump in MPG.
Regarding number 1 above. True. I agree. Unless you are towing. Then Low is better. I have a trailer with brakes. If I have a long lead time, I don't want the trailer brakes wasting energy with friction pads either. By using low, I can slow, and capture regen from the trailer's inertia also!1) More efficiency will be gained by not using Low, and using the brake as little and as gently as possible. 2) This is because regen will never recapture 100%, despite what the brake coach says.
I would argue that driving that slow on most streets would not only infuriate everybody who is actually going the speed limit, but would also be unsafe as you’re mostly just a giant obstacle in the middle of the road. This is dumb and I actively discourage it.I'll start this thread with a score of 62 MPG over 6.1 miles with an average speed of 18.3 MPH. (Over 2 consecutive trips)
I got this number by sticking to L gear on Eco mode when driving through a small town. L gear maximizes regenerative braking, and can be helpful for MPGs at low speeds.
Since L gear is simulated, you can use it in small towns and still reach higher speeds like 40, though I'd probably switch to D if I were going 35+.
No. You do not understand. You drive about the same speed. The clock keeps ticking anytime the key is on. Every stop light. Every stop sign. Every car wash. Every minute in a Drive-thru lane. This brings your average way down, deceptively so.I would argue that driving that slow on most streets would not only infuriate everybody who is actually going the speed limit, but would also be unsafe as you’re mostly just a giant obstacle in the middle of the road. This is dumb and I actively discourage it.
Or people can do what they likeOk this thread seems really nerdy to me, it’s like removing your fridge lights and opening it only twice a day, burning candles instead of turning on lights, 2 minute cold showers only, reusing toilet paper, never washing your jeans, do I need to go on??
Just enjoy the ride instead doing a hyperventilating experiment. But thanks for your input.
My wife apparently doesn't drive your Escape...I drive a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid which I bought new, 105k miles. Haven't had to change out the break pads.
I got home from the grocery store earlier today, just short of two miles completely electric.I don't have a photo but did a grocery store run of .8 miles on 100% electric. All neighborhood streets with 6 stop signs on the way but still fun to see all electric.
