Did Ford upgrade the transmission in the new model.
Does it have a separate electric motor for rear wheels?
How is the power shifted to rear wheels?
Don't know where to find it..

To add, anyone know how the new hybrid is magically able to tow 4000 pounds? The actual total power has not changed at all (same drive train/engine) and adding AWD doesn't increase power available. There are some minor suspension changes in the rear, but outside that, it looks like total power available wasn't the stopping block that limits the 22-24 hybrids to 2k.

I saw that and figured that something was missing from the information sheet. It’s the same engine and transmission how did it suddenly become a viable tow vehicle?

Yes the eCVT has been upgraded. Not exactly sure how the AWD works though.

I have been searching all over teh intarwebs and cannot find this, either.

I *believe* it's a HF55 with a power transfer unit (PTU, would be a 'center differential' in normal/non-Ford terms) which then goes into a fairly normal drive shaft and might then go into the same rear differential unit (RDU) as the standard ecoboost AWD units have had since MY22.

@Automate started talking about this back in Dec '23: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/new-hf55-ecvt-coming-to-maverick.40761/

Just guessing...
Added better duty radiator & trans cooling ????
At least on the EcoBoost AWD 2k vs 4k ...it's cooling components and gearing.

I guess you've never been to a sled pull competition.

It's not about horsepower.
It's about pulling power.
That is; getting the power to interface with the ground. Traction.

It is the AWD that gives it confidence to pull 4k.

The 2022 FWD will pull 4k uphill on a 100 degree day just fine, on pavement.

Add to the fact tongue weight takes weight off the front axle.

Back of the napkin math:

400 pounds on the ball takes 100 pounds off the front axle. But adds weight to the rear axle.

Maybe initially the Hybrid AWD was put on hold, due to COVID-related supply constraints and other mfg. shortages. At one point, you couldn't get a Maverick built unless you left off certain items - hitch receivers are just one example. Then there's just getting the new vehicle to market in time, then introduce major features in later model refreshes, so people who already own one will trade for a newer model to get those features.

2025 FWD hybrid can still only be configured for 2k towing, just like the 2022-2024 FWD hybrid. If you pick the 4k towing package, the configurator forces you to ugrade to AWD (+$2,200), Copilot 360 ($795) and then the 4k tow package ($795) gives you a larger radiator, larger transmission cooler, upgraded engine cooling fan and 3.81 final drive ratio gearing. So yeah, $3,790 in upgraders later, the hybrid Maverick can tow 4k.

Here is a look at the4K Tow package when building an XL Hybrid AWD 4KTow. So the 2.0 gets a higher capacity radiator, the 2.5 Hybrid does not.

Ummmm not exactly. Please re-read the descriptions of packages.
