That is fair...but had I ordered an XL or XLT I still would have had the intellect to order the tow hitch. 🤷‍♂️
This sort of reply is why I'm leaving this Forum. Ford have the tow hitch as one of the biggest constraints to even get a truck ,I was told by my dealer to "ditch the hitch" if I wanted my truck in 2023 and it would cost an extra $300.00 to fit it aftermarket. That was when I used my intellect and decided it was better to have a truck and spend an extra $400.00 after delivery than to spend just a $100.00 on a hitch and have no truck. Oh dear ,I must be an idiot.

That is a fair response. But, had you checked the date, this post was from 1 year ago. And if you check the constraint items list, it does change sometimes. Are you sure in March 2022, the hitch was on that list? Enjoy your maverick, I am enjoying mine with the 4k towing with a hitch.

My bad ,I wholeheartedly apologise. I got confused with another thread (I'm new to this Forum and its format).
Sorry again.

Probably not the answer you want to hear, but I would take it to the dealer to have it installed. Couple reasons: They know the Maverick, they know how to install, if they make a mistake it's on them and they have the parts (usually) in hand to repair it, and finally, they're liable if anything down the road goes wrong.
Any other vehicle, I would say do it yourself or take it to a competent mechanic. The Maverick is so new I have to wonder how many shops are familiar with it.
My Maverick was the 2nd my dealer has ever seen on March 1. Probably not a good assumption that they know the vehicle. What they do have is the service manual.

Unfortunately, you are correct about dealer unfamiliarity. One of my local dealers has a rather large and separate "performance" center for trucks. Ok, so I approached them about the Maverick and they had NOTHING. "We don't see very many". Really? Maybe if you put some on your lot you might sell some!
I left . . . unescorted, I might add. Rare.
