Has anyone ever regretted getting a lariat?

I keep my cars/trucks for 10 + years and I enjoy driving. The Lariat was the right choice for me.

I'm super happy with my Lariat but I I have the Tremor itch now.

Nothing wrong with owning two Mavericks lol I almost got a second one but the gf wanted a Subaru which is a cool vehicle too

There's a lot of talk on here and in general, online, about how the lariat isn't "worth it" and "you're turning a 20k truck into a 50k truck" etc. But has anyone genuinely regretted getting the lariat? I'm asking for 2 reasons,

1. This is anecdotal, but I would make the decision again in a heartbeat. I love it, and i love every extra little feature it includes. I think the argument that I could get a ranger for the same price is a stupid argument because I don't need the extra capability of a ranger and I want the extra features that wouldn't come with a base model ranger. It's like asking why wouldn't someone get a mustang instead of a miata. Some people just want the miata.
2. I frequently see people spend more money modifying their trucklets to copy a Lariat than had they just gone with it in the first place. 1000$ seat covers, thousands in speaker upgrades, diy wireless charging/400w bed plug etc etc. Seems like they should have just got the lariat in the first place.
What are your guys thoughts?

I couldn't agree with you more, when you look at value the XLT with the Lux package makes the least amount of sense when you can add some more $$ and get so much more and I actually had a XLT with Lux. People make the argument about turning a $20K truck (which the Maverick never was) into a $50K truck (which the Maverick isn't unless you are talking Canadian dollars) and yes, you can take a $25k truck and option it upto $45k but you can do that with most vehicles. It's a hollow argument. How many people buy a $38K F-150? Probably more like $60-80k.

I wanted a truck with good MPG and that was easy to park in tight parking spaces to drive around as my daily driver. I also wanted the stuff the Lariat package had to offer. Could I have gotten a bigger truck for the same price? Sure but that's not what I wanted.

I see this word a lot in these forums. "regret".

What does that actually mean? Don't you know what you're buying? I'd certainly hope so if you're willing to drop 40k after tax, title, and license on a highly trimmed, basic truck.

This is a rhetorical comment. There is no answer - some will never be happy in any vehicle they purchase.

Regret is just easier to type than "Buyers remorse".

I for one love my decision to buy the Lariat. Of course, i have had it for January+February and its my first non-cloth seats car...i might regret my decision when i am wearing shorts in August. i will put a towel (with a note on what its for) under the back seat today.

I bought my '23 for $38 with almost everything but the ACC and the kitchen sink. FX4, Moonroof, Lux, block heater, Ford Hard Trifold...etc.

Seeing this was my first new vehicle and I keep my vehicles for as long as I can before upgrading, I was ok with getting the top end. Previous was a 09 Escape I had for 13yrs and put on 225k miles in those years. So my first new vehicle I was willing to spend the extra $ on because I would have it for a while and would rather enjoy it.

Some of the comments... why not get a ranger? worse mpgs even comparing the EB to the ranger. I plan on driving a lot and ill save money with the maverick. Interior room of the ranger is the same size as maverick. A slightly larger bed / slightly more ground clearance/slightly more towing....I dont plan to do much hauling and off roading more than some gravel roads/grassy parks type of deal...and if I need to make 1 extra trip with a trailer...oh well. You could have gotten an XL F150 for the same price.... true...but an even bigger vehicle which didnt fit my needs, or a ranger which is not as useful to me... or the maverick was the best fit.

But out of all the upgraded features with the Lariat, I am using them and getting my $$$ worth. heated seats, powered outlets, powered rear window...all getting use by me. but to me the b&o sound system sounds great compared to my escape I had for 13yrs. Die hard music people claim its crappy, but sounds good to me.

But my $0.02 on the people preaching about should have just gotten an XL (slightly even a couple posts I seen about the xlt)are either in 2 groups. they claim they dont need any technology/extras and they actually never do. or most likely, the ones who claim they dont need all the extras, but then go about adding their own extras (and many of them) to the point where it costs near/same as loaded xlt or lariat, yet claim the XLT/Lariat are too expensive.

I am not trying to tell others their choices are wrong, nor would I suggest it. Each has their own check boxes they wanted filled to best fit their need. Mine was gas mileage, ability to tow/truck bed/AWD, and personal comforts (moonroof, block heater, heated seats, trifold, accent lighting, etc).

So now that I have had mine for about 1.5yrs with 18k on it... I have not regretted the Lariat yet. Lived up so far to expectations and well worth the extra bucks to me.

In mY2024... The difference in an XL equipped the way I wanted (finding new rims and replacing continental tires included) and the Lariat fully loaded even with BAP/sunroof was $130 a month difference in the payment.. Not an insignificant amount, but I'll keep this rig a long time.

Regrets? Zip, nada, zilch. Absolutely none!
I use and enjoy every feature that comes with it. For me, it is well worth the extra expense.

The Lariat is packed with features I use every day. Totally worth it to me.
My other car is a Porsche where practically every additional light bulb is an expensive ala carte option. While they are different animals entirely, the Lariat’s many features in any Porsche would be a >$20k package - just for perspective. You get a lot for your money with Ford, IMHO. Also, my 25 Maverick Lariat was available on the lot fully optioned (too much so for my liking)that was $43k - not $50k….

If you think a Maverick Lariat is expensive, check out an F150 Lariat or higher. There is a quite a price difference… On the other hand, the MAV XL/XLT is great if price is your main concern and want to be in the $30k range.‘it’s a hell of a lot of truck for the money. (The only truck for that money?) You just may want to think twice about upgrading an XL/XLT to make it “almost a Lariat…”

Finally, I had an F150 Lightning Lariat with BlueCruise which was great. I do wish the Mav Lariat had BlueCruise in addition to Lane Keeping Assist. I wonder if this requires dedicated hardware or if it would be a software only upgrade?

Yes it’s my very first Maverick I just so happen to be on the lot right after it arrived and the original customer that special ordered it didn’t take delivery so I was able to get it the same day and it’s exactly what I wanted option wise maybe I would of gotten a different color but now that I own it I really like it…

I've owned 2, and haven't regretted it a moment. The only thing I'd change if I could would be to delete the vinyl / activex seats. I think they're comfy, but they're definitely hot in the summer. My Bronco has lux package with cloth seats so I know what a difference it makes.

I have seen people get into car loans that are more than they can afford, or should commit to. I knew a guy about 25 years ago who had a relatively entry-level IT job and lived in a 1 bedroom apartment, which is not weird for anyone under 25, hell under 30, in this region.

He bought an Audi S4 when they first came out. Biturbo 2.7, a bit over 40k with taxes etc. His $800/mo car payment was significantly more than his rent and he was literally eating ramen for a couple of years. Whatever the equivalent of that is, you shouldn't do that to get into a Lariat. Hell you shouldn't do that if that's what it takes for you to get into a Maverick XL.
