For those looking for a Deep Sleep temporary fix, I came up with a trickle charger solution.

Because the battery is under the backseat and not under the hood, the solution is a little more cumbersome.

I bought a 1.5 amp charger/trickle charger from Menards. It has two leads to connect to the battery cable tightening nuts (after cutting a small notch out of them first). The cord on the charger I got is VERY short but that doesn't matter.

I connected the leads and did a quick check to make sure the charger was working. When I went to close the battery cover, I realized that I'd have to cut a couple notches in the case so it would close.

Now when I get home and if the truck will be sitting for a few days, I roll down the rear window about half way and run an extension cord in to plug in the charger.

It's a little inconvenient but it works great. I haven't gotten any Deep Sleep messages since it was installed.

My next steps will involve a multi meter and pulling fuses. The idea being that there is something (or things) in the truck's electrical system that's drawing down the battery when the truck is shut off and I'd like to tell Ford what it is.

A side note: I have heard that the Deep Sleep problem is not just Mavericks but other vehicles including other Ford models and Subarus.

You can also hook up your charger to posts under the hood. Probably a little more convenient. You may want to look into permanently mounting a trickle charger under the hood and running the DC cord out to the front bumper. Noco has the equipment specifically designed for doing that.

My 2023 Lariat Hybrid was going into sleep mode often. I started putting a small charger on the points under the hood. That prevented further sleep mode but it was a hassle doing it 2-3 times a week. Last Black Friday I picked up an AGM battery from Amazon for $120.00 and installed it on Nov. 25, 2024. It was an easy install. I have had no further deep sleep issues. I too hope Ford will reimburse me some day.

I did the same. It was an easy install. (Important to get the H4 size as it fits without any modification) Very happy with the battery and not having anxiety over not starting and having half my accessories not working.

I just got back from a 3 week vacation. My ‘23 XLT hybrid sat outside in extreme cold weather. I got the message on my phone that I was in battery saving mode. When I got home the truck started right up. I took a drive to charge the battery. Apparently the battery saving mode works.

After much time Contemplating this on the, 'Tree Of Woe' I have something for those who know more than I to Contemplate, Consider, Think about or look Into.

Trickle charger, 1.5 amp, ok great. What Is the voltage output ?
Lead Acid, flooded, wet, stinky cell, No wait what ?
Anyway Most chargers that were made for lead acid/wet/flooded batteries charge at what ever the stated amp rate, 1.0, 1.5. 2.0. 4, 6, 10, 12 amp.
And If I remember correctly the voltage during the first half of the charge is around 17 vdc.

Then comes AGM And this battery Is known for being better at longer duration slow discharge
and overall robustness.
This design needs to be charged with 14 VDC or there about.

So Here we come with a trickle charger. I've got two, both are 1.5 amp output but pre AGM
Anyone following me on this ?

Are any of you trickle charging an AGM ?

Penny for your thoughts said the Guy.

Using your current charger will be fine. You can always put a voltmeter on it but your charger is probably set up for ~12.7v. That's perfectly fine for an AGM.

The fact this issue even exists makes me second guess buying a ford.

Per manual the charger negative has to be connected on the body side of the BMS and not the post as it needs to "see" the charging and discharging!

If you have an Ecoboost, your battery is under the hood.

And yes, that is basic information that can be useful.

There is no recall for hybrid 12v batteries (yet).
This whole thread is ridiculous. To expect an owner of a Maverick Hybrid to go out and have to buy a charger and plug their vehicle in at night is rediculous. We didn't buy a stupid plug in EV. That is just a bandaid approach to a bleeding artery. Ford has known about this problem since the 2022 model year and is just getting around to supposedly doing something about it? I suspect they were ignoring it, saying publicly we "weren't driving enough. Please drive more", until the shear number of people having this problem (basically every owner of a hybrid Maverick) grew so large and vocal that they had to finally do something about it so sales weren't affected. This is the next "back up camera defect" P.R. disaster for the company. The recall for this will be so huge that the impact to future sales will yet to be seen. Also, someone pointed out that other vehicles like Subaru's have this issue. Who cares? That's not our problem. That is deflection. That is Subaru's problem. This is Ford's problem to solve, and the clock is quickly ticking on this for a solution to be announced by March 30th, as they have publicly promised.

What the notification has told you is your battery has dropped to less than 12 volts to an approximately 25% charge level. Essentially discharged. This is NOT a "feature". It is NOT "saving" the battery. Leaving a vehicle battery, be it a flooded lead acid battery, or AGM style, in such a low state of charge will destroy that battery. One could give Ford some slack if this problem had suddenly appeared in a new model year, but this problem has existed since the Maverick hybrid was first introduced. Instead of spending their time and efforts in redesigning the front end and dash of the Maverick maybe they should have devoted more resources into fixing the problems in the existing models, .i.e. deep sleep and the backup cameras.

I have been using battery tenders on my vehicles for years. They are all plugged in every day using a pigtail running out of the hood. I've never had an issue and there should be zero reason to disable Fordpass app settings or disconnect connected items. I have everthing possible connected and have no complaints.
I've heard of people wrapping their key fobs in foil to stop deep sleep problems. Really??

Good comments, I share the opinion. But the deep sleep/battery saver hybrid problem has been corrected for 2025 models? Don’t they come with AGM batteries? No idea if there are software or other changes.
