Dash/windshield rattle

Thanks for the posts to use 5/8" backer rod. It and duct tape along plastic cowl at base of windshield cured 95% of my rattles. I had the Maverick to the dealer for the side curtain airbag recall and showed the service manager the duct tape job. They "found the panels under the cowl panel had loose screws". No more duct tape and a pretty rattle-free Maverick now.

I've been living with it for a year and it has absolutely soured me on the ownership experience.

It's going into the dealer again on Monday for the 17th time since April of last year.

I suggest you continue pushing the dealer and Ford to find a resolution for you.

Selling mine ...Going back to honda gonna get a base honda hrv....hate ford subpar quality interior paint and other issues...

I bought a 2023 Honda CR-V hybrid sport for my wife and the quality of materials is far better. It’s also $8-10k more expensive, not as efficient, a/c sucks, infotainment has issues. I’ll make some more videos on it but overall it’s an excellent suv. We had an Acura RDX and it was pile of shit. No OEM is going to be perfect.

I think I'll just keep my rattles.

The last two cars I had before this truck were Subarus. Both had un-fixable rattles and the infotainment systems sucked much worse than the Maverick's. Bluetooth on the Subies would seldom connect quickly or stay connected.

Coming from a Tesla - the Maverick feels like a vacuum chamber.

However I do have a dash "rattle" more like a very faint popping and also one in the passenger a pillar or door.

It's a truck, I'll live with it.

You'll end up hating the 1.5 direct injection turbo where gas gets mixed into the oil even more.

Has Honda fixed the gas/oil mixing on their turbo engines yet?

Well 500 miles in my Maverick developed the infamous dash/windshield rattle. At first it was bearable with the radio on but has gotten progressively worse. Taking it in to the dealer Thursday. Hoping they will be able to fix it, but sounds like this is the first time they'll be experiencing this issue

The noise comes from the dashboard that lifted up on me.

I encountered that problem. I found the exterior plastic cowling just aft of the hood where it meets the windshield was misfit. I had to press down and smooth out the fit to get rid of the buzz/rattle.

I've tried alot of different things, but I have fixed the rattle noise through the windshield pin.

At someone's request, I tried wedging a thin piece of plastic between the passenger side pillar and dash, this worked for a couple of weeks. Finally got around to trying again This time, I stuffed as much as the foam door gap sealer stuff (made for air gaps on a house door) between the passenger side windshield and dash right in the corner by the previously installed thin plastic piece, it's working great so far!

There is a TSB released in November for issue ...Take it to dealer....Mine in today have bronco sport for loaner ...Very solid with no rattles...Mine rattled Fromm day 1.....Too bad they did not put Bronco interior in Mav...Much higher quality and not all plastic like the Mav...If they install hybrid powertrain in bronco sport I will buy one.....

Hi did you ever get dash rattle fixed?
My 2022 they pull the drivers door and seats and took everything out down to the firewall and replaced the complete dash. I think that fixed it but have so many other problems lemon lawed it.
Now my 23 has the same problem been in 6 times , told me today they will need to replace the dash skin . This will be the same process as the 22. Not good

I posted this elsewhere on this forum (I'm not experiencing this rattle so I haven't tried this on my Mav) -

This was a fix for my 1st Gen Tundra (and a lot of other folks too). It was a dash rattle where the windshield and the dash meet. Backer Rod from HD or Lowes; $4 for 20ft. Just tucked it in and the rattle was 99% gone.

This is basically the fix that ford has . They did this it did not work. They removed the windshield tabs , rattle still there . Said need to replace the dash skin. 2023 xlt hybrid

Haven't had them fix it. I have a warranty, so may take it in.

My problem is the driver side windshield vent rubbing against the blue dash. I couldn't find a way to fix that without pulling the dash.
