What? Every week the dealer network has been publishing late/constrained availability lists. The Maverick builder page even has each item thats constrained listed as such.

Ford does not know what availability is going to be month to month because there are massive shipment delays going on. 40+ container ships are queued up on the San Diego port, when normally there is only one or two. Not to mention the "ongoing" pandemic, or the massive wild fires, or the floods, or freezing snowy conditions in TX last winter. I get you want your truck, but a little self awareness goes a long way.
Honesty I don’t care when the truck comes. I have a working car now with same hybrid MPG. It’s cool that your giving excuses for them. Regardless of what is going on around us. They had an idea of how many they could start with and how many they “could” make on a month to month basis even with it changing often. Your not in the business without having good ideas of how much abs when. Since I had no idea that they just keep us in dark about everything. It’s a little surprising. Ford can send out updates to the Public (not dealers) on how the situation changes.

Sucks but I ordered my xl with the options I wanted. Not going to remove a bunch of stuff... It's looking more like next year probably spring or summer at this rate...
I agree with Skupking. I HAVE to have my soft folding tonneau, and I will wait them out. This is ROTTEN on Ford's part. My Dad is rolling over in his grave. He bought Fords his entire life, until be bought a 1958 Edsel. He was so mad, he never bought another Ford, and told me not to. Well, I am 78, and this is my first Ford, and he is rolling over in his grave. I can hear him now. To make matters worse, I got a great offer on my current car, with super-low mileage, from Carvana, so any extra miles won't do me any good. Damn.

Supply chain issues are currently a problem everywhere. Try ordering furniture if you think that this is a "Ford only" problem. My sofa and loveseat combo that I ordered during a Labor Day sales event last year are still in limbo.

I'm pretty sure Ford hasn't transitioned away from dealerships yet, as much as they're obviously gearing up for it.
Not likely to happen anytime soon, in fact it is against the law in most states for a vehicle manufacturer to sell direct to consumer, and requires a dealer as a middleman. Check into Tesla's woes in this area.

They don't have the capacity as of THIS WEEK. The constraints are for THIS WEEK, we don't know that they'll carry over for how much longer. Just a present constraint, they're not going to stop taking orders because of short-term supply issue..

Soo much bitching and moaning in this thread. If y'all can magically source CONSTRAINED parts and components better than FORD, GO DO IT!
THIS WEEK. Heh, ain't that the truth. Timing is everything. I have a June 14 order, Lariat Lux with a Bed Mat. My order is still showing 02 priority, Unscheduled-Clean.

Get what you want, otherwise you are playing whack-a-mole.

"Factory installed" is a consistently better install usually. The dealers do not do it regularly enough to have it down so your car is a "prototype build" for them. It is also time consuming, and cheap, manual labor is used, not a mechanical process like the factory build. Most likely your job will be rushed. Dealers are more willing to fix factory mistakes rather than address their own.
"Normally" the public does not even know about any of these build plans let alone there is even a new truck coming. The announcement date would take place AFTER the Okay to Sell milestone has been achieved and stock units are rolling to the dealers (Think 2020 Escape).

There are no 'mistakes' taking place here. It takes months to launch a new vehicle and make sure everything is in the proper place. The vehicles will get here but it may not be making good on the expectations of the waiters.

As for the Bronco situation that was hit hard by COV-19 supply and work constraint issues. It was terrible but Ford is trying to relieve the stress which many on here think is some sort of joke.

True. But I do feel like Ford may see an advantage in Tesla's model, and that Ford dealership responsibilities, as they were, will start to shrink.

That's great. Two questions so I can take advantage of it:

(1) How do I get to see the dealer late/constrained availability lists?
(The OP published one here, but I don't know how they got it.)

(2) Where does the constraint show up on the builder page?
(I ask because the OP says spray-in bedliner is constrained, but I just built a Maverick with that on the builder page and didn't see any notice. I'm probably not looking in the right place.)
Dealers are publishing the lists on social media (FB/Reddit/Forums)

Typically constrained items shows up next to the item like here in the builder page. To be fair its not showing for all of the known constrained items.

Welp, I have a FE order and as such I have the (a) lux package, (b) soft folding tonneau cover and (c) spray-in bed liner. Oh yeah...hybrid too. Strikes 1 through 4. Good thing I wasn't expecting a truck anytime soon anyway. 🤢
Same here! It seems crazy that the FEs may be some of the last preorders to go out at this rate...

Isn't there a difference between "late availability" and "constrained"? I've thought the definitions were along these lines:

  • Late Avail = this component/feature will not be available until later in the model year
  • Constrained = this item was intended to be available at J1, but is not available due to unforeseen issue like quality problem, unplanned equipment downtime, shipping/logistics issues, etc.
I don't expect to see late avail stuff until mid-model year. I sorta thought/hoped that constrained stuff might become more available week to week.

On the one hand we have people expressing disappointment about delays and on the other side we have people sticking up for Ford. Yes, we should give grace to companies as they struggle with availability of supplies. It has been crazy all across the board! But I think we should also be able to admit that there is room for improvement on Ford's part when it comes to the vehicle launch and ordering process. If it were not for message boards we'd all be in the dark. As much as I hate the phrase "perception is reality," it seems to fit here. While not their intention, it seems that many will be excited to finally get their Maverick, but will have a less than positive view of Ford. No, that's not at all their intention, but with the current system, that's the reality.
Honestly, I'm not trying to stick up for Ford, just trying to explain the environment almost all manufacturing is forced to work with right now. Heck even the sofa I ordered 3 months ago, wont be delivered till November/December.

I work in manufacturing as a prototype machinist, so I get a front row seat to all of the raw material shortages and everything else. Machines my shop ordered were delayed for almost a year.

Ford probably should have had their dealerships let people know they would not be getting their vehicles for 4-6 months during the order process. That seems to be standard with most manufacturing companies I'm working with right now.

Thanks!

I'm just figuring out the difference between Late Availability and constraints. Looks like the builder page shows Late Availability, but not constraints, which is why there's nothing there for the spray-in liner. For constraints, I guess I have to search Reddit (which I'm not really familiar with).

Good catch, I had not made the distinction between constrained vs late availability... To me either one means you wont be getting it anytime soon!

Yeah, I'm a 6/11 order that has been at Priority Code 02 since mid July. I'd remove the tonneau cover to (maybe) speed up the process but, can't make a change once it is at 02. Oh well, the order is in just how I want it so, I'll try and be patient.
