Well, just got off the phone with my dealer and he assured me all was good to go and gave me a number. He tells me this is a good thing for those that have a COVP as this will cull the herd so to speak, but I just cannot help but feel sorry for those that get the "YOU ARE CANCELLED" letter in June. Without either watching Tim Bartz or this forum how would most people even have a clue?

I feel a new level of optimism now and gonna have to call the Toyota dealer and tell him I am putting off that Taco for now. Hahahahahahaha. (y)(y)(y)

This whole thing...trying to REALLY match the orderer to the buyer ...should have been maintained the entire time Mavericks have been produced.

Still doesn't help those with crappy dealers that jack up the initially agreed prices, tho, trying to get folks to decline their orders. It really doesn't have to be this adversarial, but dealers want the instant dollars these days and don't seem to care about reputation and long-term customers.

I emailed my salesperson at my dealership, straight up asking him to provide a screenshot of my COVP approved order. Hoping it was done last September when I ordered and that he actually sends me a screenshot and not try to skirt around the issue. 🤞
This does not say anything about your C O V P approval! it only states you are unsheduled-clean, if you do not have your C O V P approval# from your dearler you better be getting it because ford is saying any orders that has not been C O V P approved will be unscheduled-balanced-out this means you will not be scheduled for a production or build period.

Does anyone know if it is a similar process for Canada? Just wanted to check before I hassle my sales person.

Thanks

My dealer said I don't need the covp because he filled out an actual purchase contract? Which is correct? Thx

Your definitive answer might come from @fordvideoguy . Tim can be trusted to know the true answer.

Ford Motor Company requires a COVP, if the dealer doesn't do it, per the memo, your order will likely be canceled. FMC is very strict, when they say you need to do something, you better do it.

The Ford memo doesn't mention any exceptions for "purchase contracts" or anything else. My money is on "non-COVP verified orders will be cancelled".

that cancelled notification will probably be somewhat generic like 'due to overwhelming demand we can't make your truck - sorry' and won't mention that it is their dealer's fault. Imagine if they did state it was the dealer's fault and how much cr-- they'd (legitimately) take and the anger - the dealer would probably just say well it's Ford's fault they oversold and are just looking for a way out and blaming us. Finger pointing. Ticking time bomb and like you say most people have no idea that this is going to happen to them within a week and how disappointed they'll be.

So this is actually some pretty big news. I just emailed my dealer as we have a Lariat hybrid on order that was initially ordered as a XLT hybrid (thus a trim change). So per Tim this order would need to be COVP'D again. I spelled as this out to my salesperson but I'm not confident that they'll look into this and make sure it's right.
unfortunately it's up to you to make sure they follow thru and show proof that they have done this. Spend the time, effort, and be tenacious about it because in the end if they do not follow thru the only thing you are going to get from Ford and the dealer is a 'we're sorry' letter. You are among the few that know what needs to be done - you may know more than your salesperson or dealer - so it's up to you to ensure that they take care of this.

Take the memo to your dealer ASAP and tell them you want it COVP while you are there.

For those that have asked "am I ok if I have a VIN and am scheduled?" just a heads up I had a VIN and was scheduled for June 8th, and then on the 19th of May I was suddenly not scheduled anymore.

It's possible I just got bumped by a lower priority order (or the tracker is glitching, which i've read here can happen) but also just as likely that my order is not COVP and has been removed from the schedule - not sure a VIN alone is a guarantee that the vehicle will get built, so probably still a good idea to check with your dealership just to make doubly sure - am doing that myself ASAP.
How did you come to learn that your order was un-scheduled?

@joestantoine - I would also recommend this. Print out a copy. Your dealer should pick up on the fact that they will not get the truck if this process is not correctly completed. That should (hopefully  ) get their attention. It's one thing to worry about losing the ability to sell the truck to you. It's another entirely for the dealer to worry about being unable to sell it at all.

In speaking to my dealer yesterday he told me when he got the memo he immediately double checked the remaining 12 Mavericks he has on order to re-confirm what he already knew that all 12 orders were good to go. He said he thought of me right off when he saw that memo and knew I would be calling him. Hahahahaha.

Moral of the story no COVP, no truck. Stay on the dealer. The rules have changed in an effort to thin the herd and help Ford finish all orders.

Think about that though for a minute. In a production meeting, some exec raises his hand and says he or her has a solution to their problem of not being able to meet production. Let's bring back COVP, eliminate those that missed the boat and we get to build less trucks, make less money and call it a day. On top of that, if there is any blow back just blame the dealers and call it a day again. Everybody patted him or her on the back, kudos all around, now in line for a promotion and lets do lunch.:ROFLMAO::sneaky:
