So, Ford originally told all of these dealers that it was encouraged but not necessary, but now it is necessary and they're leaving it up to the dealers to follow up with customers and get the info? I imagine there is going to be a lot of angry people not getting their Mavericks.
They did this to me last year. If you really want a Maverick then you should stay in regular contact with your dealer as I bet this won't be the last change.

Good question. At what stage can we be assured we have a valid order?
How many hoops do we have to jump thru?
Clearly, this is a new hoop to jump through if you want to get your Maverick built. Lay your eyes on your COVP approval to be sure for this hoop. Trust me, my Maverick was worth all the hassle and struggle.

My order is already scheduled for June 12th should I still worry about the COVP?

One thing I noticed in the official announcement from Ford is that they say any unscheduled orders without COVP will be assigned priority code 99 on June 2nd, and canceled on June 5th.

So it might be worth checking your order with Ford Chat on the 2nd or 3rd to see if your order is priority code 99. If it is, then something is wrong with the COVP paperwork on your order and you'll have a few days to hopefully get it resolved before it's canceled on the 5th.
I’m already scheduled for build of June 12th… should I still worry about the COVP?

Or just overworked/understaffed?
uh, no. It's not like they're running a fast food business - most dealerships work on an appointment basis where they allocate time for a potential purchaser. Following the procedures including the COVP isn't that time conuming, they get a copy of your drivers license and include that and other personal info on your order. So maybe 10 minutes. If a salesperson can't speand 10 minutes on 'sealing the deal' then they aren't sales people

Exactly, so they can get a handle on how many real orders there are left to build. Hopefully find the people with orders at multiple dealers trying to game the system so they can shut them down.
nothing prevents someone from putting in multiple orders - there isn't something in this alert that says they're going to bounce COVP'd multiple orders under the same name.

I asked my salesperson for two things.
1) Would he confirm that the COVP was actually entered on my order
2) Can he give me my current priority code?

Below is his emailed answer. Does this make any sense?

""I ordered 4 mavericks the same day i ordered yours 3 of the 4 orders got picked up yours was one of the 3 the # your seeking is T001 They started building T002 today so it shouldnt be much longer on yours hope this help"" (unedited)
if your order was 'picked up' then (1) you should get some production date from Ford and (2) it was COVP'd. In that time is of the essence I would rephrase the question and get him to answer each of them and not throw around 'Tx' terms or at least to explain what each of those mean.

One of my greatest pet peeves is when you ask someone two questions via email and they only answer the first one. What's even more infuriating about this response is that they didn't answer either question.
they're like politicians - they don't listen to your questions and/or they don't answer that question they spout about what they want to talk about / they don't comprehend what you are asking / they talk in 'business-ease' like we all know what a Tx number is. The only way to fix this is to rephrase the question in detail and keep on them until they actually give you a sensible answer...with proof.

Ford Video Guy just said on his livestream that there is an even deeper wrinkle to this........even if you DID have COVP done back in September, if you changed your trim level or went from FWD to AWD (or hybrid to EcoBoost or EcoBoost to Hybrid) since then, YOU NEED TO COVP AGAIN. He said he had done COVP for all of his (back in September), yet saw some on a list today that were not COVP'd. The reason being the customer changed their order. They had been correctly COVP'd back in September, but were now showing as not being COVP'd.

Yikes......

Any of you out there who made changes to your order after it was initially submitted, CHECK WITH YOUR DEALER. Don't let them just claim they did it correctly back in September. They very well might have done it back in September. Make them produce proof as of today! If Ford Video Guy can be caught off guard by an order change needing to be re-COVP'd, then I can assure you MANY dealers out there are also going to not know about that wrinkle.

Edit: He just said "motor" doesn't matter. So just changes to trim (XL, XLT, Lariat), or change between FWD and AWD.
interesting. Guessing that a swap of trim levels required another COVP to verify that the buyer authorized these changes. Weird that an engine change would not require the same...

Nothing prevents Ford from fulfilling one of the COVP'd order, while not scheduling the second one in the same production year. That will cause the second one to be reordered for the next production year. If Ford wants to, just saying...

I am sitting right next to you on this Pet Peeve bus. …

One reason to email questions is to get answers in writing.

But can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to respond to an incomplete response by writing “Do you have an answer to my question about …”

(1) I did not get a production date from Ford, but my dealer did that he forward to me from [email protected]-ford.com in last December. The email had my name in the text:
Ford Maverick COVP NEEDED FOR ALL RETAIL ORDERS BY 6/2 prod

(2) Neither my 2022, converted to 2023 order in last September resulted in a COVP email from Ford.

We can blame the dealer for not having everything in order, but sometimes Ford does not either. And of course, we are left in limbo with our order(s)...

it's based on dealer allocation - I've seen nothing where multiple orders under the same name is part of any select and build criteria. So it's possible that 0/1 or both of them get made but has nothing to do with how many someone ordered. Actually if only one out of two or three gets built then it shows that ordering at multiple dealerships is a great idea - you increase your chances of getting it built and you can always just give up any additional ones you ordered.

The original posting here had a screenshot stating "Cancellation of all UNSCHEDUELED non-COVP approved" orders.
So yours has been scheduled.
...But I'd still worry.
