Buyer's remorse on FWD Hybrids?

I agree with the others, I have zero regrets. AWD would be nice in the winter but it's not a necessity. I grew up with rear wheel drive and front wheel drive cars so I know all about how tires make the difference and I know how to drive in the snow.

As for the resale value, who knows? Those things aren't easy to predict but I will say that trucks in general usually have a very good resell value compared to cars and the Maverick so far has not been any different. I highly doubt resale value would matter much except maybe in very few states where they get hammered with snow in the winter.

The main thing that I learned in MANY years of driving in Iowa winters . . . 4 wheel drive and AWD allows you to go twice as far into the ditch at twice the speed.
I have had to call a wrecker ONE TIME. Dropped a wheel into a frozen rut and went into a 4 foot deep ditch with a 1955 Chevy. Any car made in the last 20 or so years would have been totalled. Got a wrecker to YANK me out and drove home. Not a mark. The Maverick would have been wrecked and bent like an aluminum gum wrapper.

Nope, zero regret. I live on the wet coast of Canada, We get snow off and on but it usually does not stick around long. Besides I have been driving for over 40 years - FWD, RWD and AWD and I have never been stuck. Good set of snow tires (and chains as a backup - I have never used them) is all you need. Plan your route to try and avoid steep hills and use bus routes where possible (they are the first to be brined and plowed).

I’d have regret if there was a hybrid fx4 version. For my use, a good pair of tires can bridge the gap on the street between fwd and awd

I would have if the 22 FWD w/ winters was insufficient but luckily, its been 2 winters and no issues in the snow. Plus, I got the lowest price as the hybrid's been steadily climbing these last few years + good finance rate in '22

Nope I'm good, have a great set of snow tires and experienced no issues. I'll wait till the PHEV comes out in AWD and maybe switch out then. But these are in such high demand theres no concern about losing any sleep

The next model will always be better than the current model. That's how Ford sells more cars.

When you buy, you just have to accept that is what you bought.

After buying the FWD, I said I'd get the AWD when it came out. Now that I am used to the FWD and it's limitations, I am comfortable with it.

Getting a new one with AWD at close to 40k is more than I am willing to spend.

Zero,zip,nada! I'm in Northeast Ohio and have driven everywhere my Expeditions,F-150's,Jeep Wrangler have been. I will get some new tires for winter,but otherwise no problems.

I already sold my 23 Hybrid because I need a truck with AWD and 4k towing package to replace my F150. I need a car that does great in the snow and can also tow my small camper, so I saw the writing on the wall that I needed to sell my Maverick to get an AWD. I will be placing an order tomorrow as soon as the order banks open up.

Those that own Hybrids - will we see the "value" drop on the FWD version because people will prefer the AWD version? Do you regret buying your FWD hybrid and not waiting for the AWD that we knew was coming at some point?

No remorse whatsoever since I use it mostly for running errands around town as my "daily" and have an AWD SUV as well as a sports car so Maverick gets used sparingly. Retirement is awesome!

No regrets at all ... but I am thinking about going to the dealer tomorrow ... maybe ....

No remorse here, I'm thrilled with my 23 XL hybrid. But that AWD and 4k are absolutely options I would've checked if they were available.

When I ordered and purchased my '23 XLT hybrid, I was living in central Florida with a long commute. I now live in eastern New Mexico with a much shorter commute. The FWD on the stock tires did fine during the big winter storm we had here in February.

That being said, the only reason I'd want a 2025+ hybrid would be for the 4k towing option. It would be nice to have but not enough to make me want a 2025.
