Fellow Mav owners; not sure if this has been asked previously but why does my Mav go to Battery Saver Mode?, was at the gym and it was -8 and wanted to warm up my truck but could not because of the saver issue being on ! How do i deactivate this feature ?

1) The battery is never charged to more than 80%, so it sulfates.
2) The low temperature prevents the battery from even charging that far.
3) The broken BMS software switches into tricklecharging mode within 10 minutes of starting, preventing most batteries from even reaching 60%.
4)Its not a big enough battery to handle the faulty Ford engineering decisions.
5) There is still an unintended power leak drawing the battery down below 30% for most owner.

Even AGM batteries require at least a 95% charge to prevent sulfation damage, although it takes a bit longer to become fatal with an AGM design. Ford fudges the numbers and calls an 80% charge as 100%, so even if the BMS did its job properly it would still destroy batteries regularly. Unless you drive hundreds of miles per week, assume that you will destroy a battery at least once per year. The sulfation problem is much worse on the Hybrid models, presumably because the owners do a lot more city driving and consequently only rarely get the charge up to even 60%. Even with all available updates and fixes done, your battery is in deep trouble if you leave it parked for 2 or more days. The battery saver mode just shuts off many of the slight draws like remote access and interior lights to try to preserve what little is left in the battery to allow the truck to start.

You deactivate it by following the suggestion in post above.

No other way - as it's trying to make sure you can start the vehicle at least in person.
Because it has no idea how long it might sit there otherwise draining the battery until you can't in person.

Were you getting lights off sooner and sooner on entry/exit though the weeks/days?
If not - you might have had a parasitic drain that day that caused the battery to go below the limit to kick that function off.

If it started - be glad it did.

This is the way! Install a charging port and you won't have to futz with opening the hood and attaching leads every few days!
No biggie as I often park with the hood up (to deter mice).

I used to hook up the charger and close the hood to keep the feral cats from pissing on my engine!

You absolutely have to have been going into deep sleep for quite some time now, but have not noticed the symptoms for some reason. There is a 100% chance that your interior light has not been working when you open your door for example. Your battery is failing in the colder temperature and in need of replacement. Its a yearly thing until Ford actually fixes the (a) unintended power leak, and (b) totally incorrect BMS charging algorithm suited to a lithium battery instead of a lead-acid one.

Hello, Fcarl
If your asking this question, then this must have been the first time this has happened to you.
You can't turn off that feature, it's programmed in to the system to protect the battery, and give you enough electric to get the truck running.
You didn't state what year truck, but it looks like you have a 24 mav hybrid.
It may or may not have a AGM battery.
You also said it was -8 but you location is in Canada so is the C or F.
Even if it was -8C and you parked out side that will put a drain on the battery after you turned off you truck.
The best thing is take it to the dealer and have the battery tested and since its still under warranty it may be replaced.
AGM batteries don't like to be abused, (low or high voltage) .

Sad to have to use a flashlight to see inside at night after paying $30,000+ on a new vehicle. C',mon FORD MOTOR COMPANY, fix the problem.

I put my battery charger on my 23 hybrid XLT every 3 or 4 months. Only problem is no access from Ford app sometimes and no dome lights when opening door, no biggie but shouldn't happen.

My state inspection is next month so I will mention it and ask the dealer to check the battery. 3 year warranty ends next month but I do have the Ford extended warranty.

The original 12v battery in the hybrid was a 24 month battery covered for 36 months under the 3/36k warranty. The extended warranty doesn't cover the 12v battery
