  1. Pay-per-mile vs Gas Tax

Voluntary in Virginia; BUT, and it's a big BUT::: They put tracking device on your vehicle, and then you give your credit card to a Third Party vendor ( who knows how secure that is?) to bill you based on mileage traveled. I think it's basically to penalize Hybrid owners because of the much...
  2. Tailgate Open Notification?

I slip a neon yellow zip tie under the protective cover on top edge of tailgate. Just stick it straight in (without any loop) so the "head" is visible in my rear view driver's side mirror. If I can't see the yellow zip tie, then I stop to make sure the tailgate is up. Sometimes it needs...
  3. water leaks into my Maverick bed

Has a lot to do with the unibody design and the trim on the bedrails causing leaks. My 2002 Ranger never leaked, but it wasn't unibody construction

Sad to have to use a flashlight to see inside at night after paying $30,000+ on a new vehicle. C',mon FORD MOTOR COMPANY, fix the problem.
  5. Getting wipers out of parked position for cleaning

Just remember with wipers in service position, that once you turn the key back on the wipers automatically go to parked position; so if you try to warm up your engine before you clean all snow and ice off the windshield and wiper arms, you may damage the splines or motor.

  11. 1st Battery Saver Mode since AGM Install

When you Hybrid Maverick owners use a trickle charger , are you connecting to the two places under the hood? I have a Noco 5genius, but just asking to be on safe side. My back seat stays full of various items to keep them handy, and unloading all that just to get to battery would be a PIA...
  12. Bug Shield Problem

One more detail: AVS has corrected the minor fit problem of the BugFlector II slightly rubbing the left front fender when opening and closing the hood~~~~ but the Dremel attachment solved that for me during installation
  13. Bug Shield Problem

The AVS BugFlector II is a good quality item . I did have some trouble in 2024 with the holes aligning correctly, but easily solved that with my Dremel with a "cone" shaped emery grinder attachment ( it may be named something else) but that's my description of the attachment that I used to...

  16. First Deep Sleep issue encountered

Thanks for your prompt reply; I appreciate all the details too in helping me decide; without an owner's manual it's difficult to know how the 5genius provides that info you spelled out, thanks
  17. First Deep Sleep issue encountered

I see that MakinDoForNow has a Noco genius5 tricklecharger; is that about the best one? I see that the Ultima 400+ looks good and has a screen readout that appears useful whereas the Noco genius5 does not. Anyone care to share their opinion on which trickle charger to invest in? Thanks

  19. Question on "Remote Features Disabled to Preserve Battery"

Thanks HeyBales; so to clarify: 1) I can connect my charger to the terminals under the hood as shown in truck's owners manual on section for jump starting? or 2) I can connect my charger directly to both + & - posts on battery under seat; I don't have to connect the Negative clamp to the...
  20. Question on "Remote Features Disabled to Preserve Battery"

I have a Traveller brand 10amp, 12V battery charger ( I think I got it at TractorSupply), the box says " fully automatic ", overcharge protection. For a 550CCA battery, the manual says 9-13 hours recharge time for the "Green Light" to come on indicating full charge. My stupid question for my...
