I posted this recently with another user with similar ussue: It might be different on the Lariat (bigger screen and maybe different menu layout) but on my EB XL: If you go to the center screen and the Information Menu, then select AutoStartStop, the reason stop/start isn't working is displayed. Below is a screenshot I took with a cold engine:

I'm going to check that.

I just drove another 255km. The only reason my engine stopped is because I arrived and switched it off 😞

Your battery is dying. I went through two crappy Motorcraft batteries in two years before I lost my patience with Ford's trash parts and service and bought...the cheapest AGM battery on the market from Weize for $125. 4 months and no issues yet.

When we pickup up the AWD truck from the dealer, this feature worked for the first two weeks. So far we've driven 5000km since mid January, and I can't safely say that it hasn't kicked in once during all of February. I went to the dealer and was told the battery only charges when the brake is applied. Granted, I'm an extremely good driver, but even I use my brakes sometimes.

How is this working for all of you?
I haven't had this problem but I did experience where it flat out would not unlock. It had been at the shop the day before for a recall. The problem with it not unlocking was --the battery cable. (I have the hybrid).

Easy way to show it is in fact the BMS not charging the battery enough is to put it on a battery tender overnight, preferably bypassing the BMS (so it actually charges it fully). Auto Start/Stop will magically start working again.....for about a day. Haha. I have tried it.
I did the same thing. I was concerned that the battery might not be getting enough charge to start when it was really cold last winter but never had any problem with starting or with any features. Heated seats and steering wheel worked immediately even when starting on a sub-freezing day.

The harness that comes with battery tenders is short so I extended mine with a 12" piece I found on Amazon. I can leave the plug barely sticking out where the fender meets the hood and hook it up to my battery tender without having to raise the hood.

I think it is dumb that Ford's battery management system only charges the battery to around 80% even after a long drive and the auto start/stop does not engage if the battery is below 70% but it is what it is. They probably installed the feature just to get their EPA gas mileage ratings.

That said most of my trips are short with lots of stops and when the system is working I don't really like it so I am okay that it never works in my truck.

Your dealer is thinking you have a hybrid or is really clueless which would make me want to find another dealer for service.

My engine shut off worked fine for the first several weeks, then mysteriously stopped turning off at stoplights. Now, it's working again. I've only had the vehicle for 6 weeks, so I don't have enough information yet.

True. Go before the b m s right to the neg terminal. Mine was low yesterday and dropped off ford pass app. I put the tender on and it reappeared in five minutes.

For quite some time now cars with combustion engines come with a larger battery, usually starting around 85 amp to my knowledge. It gets charged during the drive so when you're stationary, the engine turns off and the battery takes over the HVAC and other electrical systems.

Hope that clears your confusion 🙂

I personally don’t like the auto start stop I think it’s hard on the starter. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise lol I turn mine off every time I get in
Likewise 👍

Lucky you! Bad for your turbo with it on.

I've observed the loss of the Auto Stop is accompanied by the loss of availability of 12V from the power outlet when the key is turned off which I want at times on my EB. An 80 mile trip out of town brings the 12V back for a day or two until the battery partially discharges again, but more is needed to restore the Auto Stop which can quickly be done with a battery charger.

Are there any settings for the BMS that can be changed in Forscan to enable fuller charging?

Brand new Ford branded AGM battery installed two days ago and A.S.S. still does not work and I do not give a shit if it ever works. For the time being, at least, I know the battery is good.
