Any idea why people are trading in their new Mavericks?

I'm thinking about trading my XLT for a Lariat. We will see when the time comes.

Hello All!

I want a Hybrid, and couldn't even get my order in. That being said, in the last 10 hours I've had 3 dealers call and tell me they have new trade in Mavericks. 2000 miles or less (none are hybrids). Was curious why there would be such a "surge" for lack of a better word in trade-ins? Your thoughts would be great!
Money!

Maybe it's as simple as they took delivery and didn't like it. Sometimes you drive something away from a dealership all excited, and a month or two later you realize it's not for you.

Or so often people buy things the soon realize they can't afford. Salesman are great at up-selling to customers who have no business buying what they get talked into.

Hope you are right but used ones are selling for more than new
Typically cars with high theft rates have parts of value that can be used easily on another vehicle
Around here new Chevy trucks are basically gold…. Almost all the parts can be used to upgrade an older model (and super popular) so they get stolen on the regular

Mavericks aren’t going to have many parts that can be shared with other vehicles (unless the Bronco Sport crowd decides they want different front sheet metal or seat colors)

Plus is nearly impossible to find a Maverick in the wild so that will keep the thefts down

Now the rare car thefts are usually moved out of the country/VIN swapped
I do not think that would be the case either

Flipping them for a profit makes sense. I'd just like to order one! I was told I had to wait until the summer of 2023!
if you get your 2023 order in the first day they open the books. You will probably get one before summer next year.

The market is wild right now. My hybrid XLT build date is in a few weeks and if someone is willing to give me a few thousand over MSRP for it, I will absolutely consider it. Buying a new vehicle isn't exactly the best financial decision, but buying a new vehicle over MSRP is just about the dumbest thing you can do lol
buying a Santa Cruz over MSRP is the dumbest thing you can do.

Agreed - SC is priced in the old world where dealer incentives and discounts are par for the course and expected. Maverick I believe is priced intentionally for a build-to-order model, where little to no incentives are intended to be given (by Ford - dealership is another matter).

Dealers are flipping their service cars, loaners they give during repairs. I've had a few come up too. I had one dealer try to sell me their service car new off the truck lol but they wanted over MSRP and I walked.
Define new…..? I’ve seen cars with 800 miles sold as brand new

Was just told by Ford that Hybrid orders will open up in August 2022 for the new 2023's. I really hope it's true.

I'll flip mine if I keep seeing quality issues.
