Happy holidays, fellow MTC fans- I wanted to share my thoughts as an early Maverick enthusiast. I waited over a year for my 2022 Maverick XLT FX4, and I'm surprised by the current pricing. I originally bought my truck for $27,000, but now I see new models priced closer to $40,000. When I recently configured my exact model with the FX4 package, the total came to $35,300—about $8,000 more than I paid in 2022.

While inflation explains some of this increase, we're in a new era of Maverick ownership. With many four-wheel-drive options available for around $45K (F150/Ranger, etc.), I'm curious if others think Maverick's pricing has affected its position in the market. I have a 2025 Tremor on order with a locked-in price of $41 K, but at that number, it is an entirely different framework when I look at what else is available for that price. Now, you truly want to have a Maverick versus buying one because that is what you can afford.
It will be the new norm if we keep overpaying, remember just a few years ago MSRP was a horrible deal. I didn't get a 25% raise this year and see no reason to give ford 25%. Vehicle prices across the board need a course correction.

If I just wanted inexpensive transportation with decent build and nice interior, I would look at Buick's Envista or Encore GX. Rated 32 mpg hwy, not as good as my Mav hybrid but in my area there are hot deals on these small SUV's.

But I am on this forum b/c I need the utility of a truck. My hybrid Mav shows 45 mpg overall on winter blend here in SoCal. I am hoping Toyota jumps into the small p/u game but now that I read about their financial struggles, I believe that has some bearing on it. So it looks like FoMoCo is the only "small" truck. I sold my 2016 GMC V6 Canyon to get my Mav and enjoy driving the Mav more than I ever did my Canyon.

F150 is too long to fit in my garage, #1 hit against it D:

As your graphic shows...
Everything else, is just too large.
I like my Garage.. Helps protect my 2nd most important investment (Truck). ;)
The 2019+ Ranger would have been a "Very Tight Squeeze" and my other option, would have been to build a NEW Garage... ($27,000+ = Building + New Concrete Slab).
Just didn't make $$$ sense...

Maverick is just slightly larger than my Rangers (1985-2008).
Ford should have started making these back in 2011..:unsure:

Everything single thing in America is a ripoff. That is the new normal. Shareholder value uber alles.

I can't complain, bought my first Maverick Lariat in Dec 2021 for 28k OTD, sold it 1 year later for 38k.
That plus a little change will cover my 25 Lariat order so I get one 3 years newer, more options and 0 miles. 🙂

BTW the guy who bought my Maverick was a GM dealer who screwed me on a Chevy Silverado so I lost no sleep. Of course he sold it 3/4 weeks later for more, crazy market back then.

I just picked up a 24 Lariat, FX4 4k. Wanted an XLT lux FX4 but they are on "stop sale" recall. In the end, I'm glad I got the Lariat (better stereo and lumbar on drivers seat). Sticker $38,200. I got "X Plan" as everyone in SE Michigan knows someone that works at Ford. Reasons I did it now: Prices are going up about $3k for a "comparable" 2025 model. (And as others have noted, this is in addition to the price increases since launch.) Actually you can't get the FX4 in the Lariat in 2025 so they want you to move all the way up to a Tremor for even more money. Also, the colors both in and out are not as nice as the 2024 colors, and of course, the new front end is hideous.

I think Ford missed a great opportunity to hold the line on pricing and style the truck more like an F150. They missed on both counts. It's almost like they want to push you into the bigger trucks. I like the F150 but a comparable model with even some of the things on my Lariat is another $15k. Also, for me, the size of the Maverick is perfect. A full size would fit in my garage but barely.

Actually when the Maverick was introduced Farley flat out admitted the strategy was to bring Ford TRUCK buyers in at a lower price point and then move them up the vehicle line up into more expensive (ie profitable) vehicles for Ford.

From a business standpoint- hard to argue with.

Ford misjudged the popularity of the Maverick while simultaneously hitting the design out of the park and having to deal with COVID supply chain shortages.

Ford has probably lost some buyers due to the price increase but they would have been foolish to keep prices where they were in 2022 given inflation and the large demand for Mavericks.

They have retooled the line up to push buyers into higher trim levels and they have raised prices above just inflation to take advantage of demand and lack of competition.

If they sell 90k mavericks at $25k OR 72k Mavericks at $30k the revenue is the same but the operational costs are much less and the profit margin grows.

No fun as a consumer, but wise vehicle strategy on Fords end.

Size matters(that’s what she said anyway). MPG matters. Price so so.

Like many, I wasn’t ready to end a lifelong relationship with owning a truck of some sort. Maverick, IMHO, is the soul owner in previously mentioned categories. It fits my garage with room to walk by front or back with door closed.

That said, if tariffs bump resell enough, I’d probably part company and replace it with a sports car. At 73, not hauling much, may be time to move on from trucks.

I do think it’s impacted its position slightly but not enough for people to choose other vehicles over it due to the price. I think the main issue is that many people including me love the Maverick because of how customizable the vehicles are in addition to how affordable. I recently was interested in comparing the price between a ford ranger and what u paid for my Maverick. With the customizations I wanted the ranger to have was still a chunk more expensive than the Maverick though the price is getting closer as the years go on. The thing I like to see is that the Maverick still is in the lead for customizations.

I do plan on getting an extended warranty on my 2024 and keeping it hopefully for 9 more years minimum and just making upgrades to it overtime like upgrading the screen or potentially lifting it. But it’s very disappointing seeing how high the price increases are. Mine came out to $35k and I received it in January of this year. I feel for the ones that are buying Mavericks now

My particular build is about $5000 more in 2025 as it was in 2022. The 2025 base XL hybrid is now $28,685 vs $21,495 at launch. There are also more expensive trims and options than there were in 2022. I guess the question is has the Hyundai Santa Cruz pricing similarly creeped up? What's the differential between a Maverick and a Ranger now? More or less than a few years ago?

I am glad I got my 2022. The 2025 isn't that much nicer or more functional to justify upgrading from what I've got.

No it isn't. You forgot to delete the (lease) acquisition fee of $695, the correct number is $27,990.

Right off the rip you get a larger AGM and new CV axles. Then sync 4 and 21+” of screens.

Taking inflation into account you’re looking at about $3k to fix all of the issues present in the 2022-2024 hybrids and that’s not awful at all.

For fun, I spec'd out a 2025 as close to my 2024 as is possible, and if my math is right it went up in price 2.8%. That's about what I would've expected.

Ford Maverick $40K- the new norm? Screenshot 2024-12-29 123525

https://shop.ford.com/configure/maverick/config/summary/Config[|Ford|Maverick|2025|1|1.|...PE7...63B.21L.87B.LAR.AILDS.16B.53Q.99A.77F.]?intcmp=vhp-bb-fbc

2024 = $39,260
2025 = $41,065 minus $695 aquisiton fee = $40,370

Difference = $1,110

$1,110/$39,260 = + 2.8%

I didn't see an option for a spray in bed liner, but believe that is now included? On the positive side, the 2025 would have the trailer assist and Sync 4.

I wish I would've waited. I even like the blue better now, too. (y)

ON EDIT: I do wish they would let you choose different tires. AT perhaps.
