Nothing new here to anyone who has been reading this forum and waiting (and waiting) for their Maverick, but here’s a sfory summarizing everything going on in the car market these days.

High prices, low inventory, a new norm for car shoppers

The story is from Edmunds, published by the Associated Press today.

The takeaway: It’s not just Ford or Ford dealerships, and it’s not going to change anytime soon.

hold the presses! you mean there actually are very real world reasons we aren't getting our Mavericks as quickly and cheaply as we all expected/wanted and it's not just poor planning and csutomer service by Ford? Dang, that flips my lid 🙃

A disappointing state of affairs for sure.

But very encouraging to see Ford working on changing the dealer gouging model, at least for EVs. Farley has announced Ford will only accept EV orders on line, with pricing fixed and set by Ford. I’m sure unscrupulous dealers will continue to find some overcharging wiggle room, but it is a clear recognition by a major manufacturer that the dealer model is broken and steps are needed to fix it.

Meanwhile, over at GM there is no shortage of stories about dealers gouging buyers placing on-line Cadillac Lyriq reservations. GM will be the last to get the message.
