One of the reasons I posted this is that, with current rebates and incentives, you can get a well-equipped F150 STX FX4 for around $45K. There are also 4x4 Rangers on sale, and that's just within the Ford family. While the situation may change in January, some aggressive incentives are available. Since I'm planning to spend approximately $45K, including taxes, considering other options is natural. I love the Maverick and am excited for my Tremor, but we are in a new neighborhood. Cheers.
That stx fx4 f150 is still 11k more than my 25 XLT hybrid AWD Maverick with tow package. That F150 will not be getting 40mpg. Also insurance will be much more. So all in all that f150 is a lot more than my 25 XLT Maverick to buy and operate.

When I took Economics 101 (I got a C- btw) I learned something called supply and demand. In 22/23 demand exceeded supply so dealers marked up over MSRP. Ford just caught on and priced 25s to match supply.

The 25 Tremor is a Trim level in and of itself. Previously it was an optional add-on for XLTs/Lariats.

As an economics professor, I'll point out that it wasn't demand, but quantity demanded, that exceeded quantity supplied, not supply, at MSRP. Supply and demand are each collections of price/quantity pairs.

When supply is fixed, price adjusts to that which is paired with quantity demanded. (in the longer term, more would be built.)

A couple of other notes: the original $20,000 price was a loss leader for marketing purposes. They ate a few thousand per unit as being cheaper than massive advertising for this new line.

Also, with a 25% cumulative inflation, $40,000 is the new $32,000 . . .

Yep. I just did a calculator. 2013 I paid 20k for my Scion tc - 2024 it says is equal to like 32k

this is a way nicer vehicle for another 8k hybrid truck than the tc. So I don’t feel it’s honestly far off for value purpose. My Scion is basically a bare bones Corolla

Happy holidays, fellow MTC fans- I wanted to share my thoughts as an early Maverick enthusiast. I waited over a year for my 2022 Maverick XLT FX4, and I'm surprised by the current pricing. I originally bought my truck for $27,000, but now I see new models priced closer to $40,000. When I recently configured my exact model with the FX4 package, the total came to $35,300—about $8,000 more than I paid in 2022.

While inflation explains some of this increase, we're in a new era of Maverick ownership. With many four-wheel-drive options available for around $45K (F150/Ranger, etc.), I'm curious if others think Maverick's pricing has affected its position in the market. I have a 2025 Tremor on order with a locked-in price of $41 K, but at that number, it is an entirely different framework when I look at what else is available for that price. Now, you truly want to have a Maverick versus buying one because that is what you can afford.
If you’re good with paying for twice the gas and half the features then yes you can get into other midsize trucks.

For me the ladder frame midsize trucks are just unimpressive. I don’t need the additional off road capability and with 4K tow and AWD I’m getting 100% of the truck I need 95% of the time with amazing efficiency that cannot be matched by any other vehicle with a bed in America.

My fully loaded AWD Lariat Hybrid is going to cost me $39,025 and it’s the truck for me and worth every penny. The midsize trucks available to me at $39k weren’t comparable.

EDIT: And someone mentioned it the other day - if you’re towing 4K (or more) regularly then choose the right tool for the job and that is not likely going to be a Maverick.

My next step would not be to a mid-size I’d go up to an F-150 with a 5.0 coyote and to get 4A I would be looking at mid 50s at a minimum to get into one.

I love AWD and Ford restricts the 4A mode in 4WD to higher trim levels or makes it a pricey optional feature.

Super value-added comment. I guess my PhD in Economics isn't worth the paper it's printed on, even if my Supervisor was Terence Gorman.

Why not just get a Toyota from the start? Were you put off by the current issue of exploding Toyota engine and transmissions?
I have had a Matrix, a Camry and a RAV4. One recall in 14 years for 1 car. I still have the RAV. I will need it when the Ford dies.

Came across my p&s for my cg today. I was close to $26700 all said and done. I priced out a similar 2025, and an XLT without the slider before taxes was $33300. I wanted eruption green but it's not worth the 7k.

I pay over A$43000 out of the door with the extended warranty for a hybrid, AWD with the 4K option. No one forced me to buy it.

I also was looking at getting info on warranty before I go to sign for new hybrid, I read about fords warranty which was recommended, I couldn’t tell if factory was 8 years and 100k miles or if it was the ford extended warranty, I have not kept any vehicles except motorcycles or muscle car for over 3 years lately but at 63 now wasting money on new trucks is over for me, my last 2 fords were 68 to 72 k so I just got a old dodge to pull trailer and getting a gas saver now, the old dodge gets 22 to 24 mpg on hwy for a 3500 not to bad,

That’s the great thing about the Maverick. There’s something for everyone.

Totally happy with the AWD Hybrid and pricing.

After driving both the xlt and lariat for the past 2 years, I can confirm the lariat is really not worth it and tbh the truck isn’t that quality to justify 40k. I have a maverick lariat bap on order but I’m debating on picking it up. Might just wait it out till someone comes up with something better.

I was wondering the same thing. A base maverick is upward of $30k.

A decently equipped one is about $35k. At that price we can get a mid size pickup (with deals and promotions).

Only thing where maverick shines is the size and gas mileage. Ironically, people with big trucks do not need the big truck 80% of the time.

At 35k it's not appealing anymore.

It's a car with a bed. I think it's not gonna last 150-200k miles.

This really depends on the features/options that you want and/or need. For me, the lariat was well worth the extra costs.
