. The Maverick was originally listed at $ 19,995.
For fun, I flipped the $40,170 MSRP (including destination) for a hybrid lariat w. power moonroof and 4k, from last month, into a converter (https://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm) for 11/19 (to be a 2020 model), and got $32,759.

One day, in the future, Ford will be gone (or taken over by the likes of Stellantis), and Toyota will still be selling millions of cars.
But we'll be OK, as the green cheese mines on the moon will be shipping enough down for all of our needs.

or even for stay at home moms
Uhm, I'm really not going to let my wife drive even something as small as a maverick around the house when she stays home . . .

I said it before and say it again..Mav is not a truck but rather a sedan with an open trunk..It's built on a Bronco Sport or Escape chassis FFS and both Sport/escape are laughable . If you get it to haul away heavy stuff, or to tow your motor home or to off road / overland this is not it.
I keep seeing the gas saving argument which becomes a moot point now that Trump is back in the office. ..in my area gas is 2.49 and dropping by the day. I also keep seeing members outrageous pricing quotes for real trucks in order to justify buying a MAV.
In the past 5 years I owned 1 x F150 Raptor gen2 econo-boost, 3 x RAM TRX and 1 X Ram Rebel (sold the 4 performance trucks to get the Rebel for free ). As someone that flipped several trucks lately I can assure you the 2nd hand/used market is in free fall. You can get a '21 TRX for 55k. You can get a '23 Rebel Hemi V8 for 45k or less. You can get a BRAND NEW '25 Rebel for 55k. You must be insane to pay same on a top trim Mav..Mav is a great deal for base XL for 30k from Granger with everything over being wasted money

Mav is perfect for retiree ( weekend warrior type), 1st time driver ( small footprint), or even for stay at home moms or athletes (easy to load bycicles, big sport gear like hokey or golf equipment etc).

Ram has some insane incentives now..before commiting for a top trim MAV ( lobo, Lariat, Tremor) msg Granger ( yes they sell Ram) and get a quote for a real truck. You'll be surprised how much more you can get for your $$$
Well said

Laughed at me and basically mocked me lol. It’s ok. $200 dollar plane ticket and 8 hour drive back is worth 2-3k

I am getting MY25 Maverick Lariat AWD EB with 4K towing and the Pro Trailer Assist package for $36,500. There is no way that I could find any midsize pickup with those options for under $45,000. In fact, I just priced a Ford Ranger Lariat with similar options for $50,000.

Please compare apples to apples.
A maverick and a Ranger is not apples to apples also.

The closest alternative is Honda Ridgeline and I am sure you will find one at that price.

Also I am sure you can find a barely used midsize truck at 35k(used car market is in free fall)

My point is if you put 10% more and get a mid size truck, you get 100% more of a truck.
Which are expected last for > 200k miles.

i'll give you an analogy to make you understand..not everyone that wears a skirt is a woman.. Same with the mav..a bed doesnt make it a truck. Oxford dictionary defines a truck as "a large, heavy motor vehicle used for transporting goods, materials, or troops." Mav is not heavy ( Escape/Bronco Sport chassis) nor is/was or ever be used for "troops" , cattle or even poultry. Again at 30k is good for what it does but if you pay 40k+ for a mav of course you act dumb and ask everyone to define " truck".
Since a 1990 Ranger with a curb weight of 2819 is a truck.
Then my Flex was a truck too. Curb weight of 4500, used to haul lumber, mulch, wall block and more.
Never knew I owned a truck before.

good choice, done that. $180 for paper, $35 to drive out of the state. The airport was not marked well so go to ground transportation, walk out the door, turn right and there are signs on the curb

Today, I learned that my Ranger is not a truck.

Just for grins, I went to the Ford website and built the 2025 Maverick Lariat hybrid with 4k tow, moonroof and spray in bed liner. (I don’t think I forgot anything) the price online was $41,660. I then built a Ranger Lariat almost identically equipped. Its was roughly 10k more and a little over $51k. I then built a Lariat F150 also similarly equipped and it came to $71k. So with each truck, the extra $$ gets you more towing and payload that no one can debate. Perhaps it also gets you more refinement, better fit and finish. I’m sure some debate that part especially between the Mav and the Ranger. Regardless, I think we can agree that as you move up in size you’re primarily paying for more capability. My point is, when comparing and making statements about being able to get a “more capable” truck and near the same price, IMHO it’s important to compare the same trim levels and all similarly equipped. A $10k difference up to a Ranger is huge in my opinion. Even if you find rebates and discounts, my bet is youre not going to find a similarly equipped Ranger Lariat for less than $45k. That would be a great deal. But still 4k more than the loaded Maverick hybrid. For those of us who don’t need the additional capability, why spend $4k more? In my mind, that makes the price of the Maverick Lariat still reasonable since I’m not willing to forgo the creature comforts that come with the Lariat trim level No matter if I bought a Maverick, a Ranger or an F150.

Still more expensive than a Lariat Mav. The points about being able to find a larger more capable (towing and payload) used truck at the same or lower price point is a valid point if you need that additional capability and are willing to buy used. That doesn’t make the Lariat Maverick overpriced or the buyer “insane” to fork over the money for it.

One of the reasons I posted this is that, with current rebates and incentives, you can get a well-equipped F150 STX FX4 for around $45K. There are also 4x4 Rangers on sale, and that's just within the Ford family. While the situation may change in January, some aggressive incentives are available. Since I'm planning to spend approximately $45K, including taxes, considering other options is natural. I love the Maverick and am excited for my Tremor, but we are in a new neighborhood. Cheers.
but you wanted a Tremor. Every upmarket option is a higher margin for Ford

A Ranger Lariat can be found for 5-7k off MSRP without a minute of haggling. All of a sudden, that 52k truck is 45k. And the interior is light years better.

Ridgelines are also going for much less than MSRP.

Not telling folks what to buy, but I wouldn't compare MSRP in this market.

I decided to get a F350 for over-landing.. Granger is at 3% bellow invoice. MSRP on one is 55k with F250 mid 40k. Again this guys are something else

I will make one last point and then give up. Per the granger website, here’s the cheapest Ranger, F150, F250 and F350 they are showing they have. And these are all Lariat trim levels so they should be comparably equipped. Ranger= $45,591, F150 = $58,238, F250 = $67,884 and F350 = $70,385. The most expensive MY25 Maverick Lariat is $36,764. in order to get the prices on the bigger trucks some of the folks on this thread are quoting, you have to go with a XLT or an XL. Which is my point. If your priority is towing and payload capability over creature comforts, then yes you can find a lower trim level with less content that begins to approach the price of a Maverick, at least in the Ranger line. But if you compare apples to apples in trim level and features, the Maverick Lariat is reasonably priced within the Lariat line of the Ford Truck family.

here’s my thing. Who wants to drive a large truck everywhere? If it’s for work alright but you gotta live with that larger tank sized vehicle

I want to enjoy driving. Not feel like a chore and pay more doing it

99% of time it isn’t going to be pulling or full bed of stuff
