I would have had the axle assembly replaced when the boot leaked grease out.

Agreed. Maverick CV’s go bad in 20-30k miles on all-stock vehicles. Even with lift, the cv angles aren’t over 15 degrees. Every time you do a u-turn the front cv joints see 35 degrees steering angle. .Sorry to jump in on the conversation between you 2 but... IMHO, the axles should be able to withstand a lift like that and not go bad after 20-30,000 miles or sooner, regardless of towing or not. I believe Ford knows this but doesn't want to foot the bill for a recall. I wonder if Ford will make some modifications to the axle for 2025.
It will tow it just fine, you were just hit by the all too common failing CV axels. The added load is likely what sent them over the edge. I had both mine replaced about 20K ago and expect them to fail in another 20K. At which point I will go aftermarket.Be careful out there when towing. I have a 2022 2.0L. I towed a 3000 lb camper about 300 miles then had to be towed. I think the engine can handle it just fine but its front legs cannot. Had to get a whole new front axle!
Someone hasn't bothered to search- nothing to do with your tow.Be careful out there when towing. I have a 2022 2.0L. I towed a 3000 lb camper about 300 miles then had to be towed. I think the engine can handle it just fine but its front legs cannot. Had to get a whole new front axle!
Great questions. You sure they fit? Heck are you sure they're actually different?
Yes.You sure they fit? Heck are you sure they're actually different?
Are they a different part number? I'm sure the splines are the same, I just wonder if they are legitimately different or better.Yes.
I don't disagree the axles should be able to handle a mild lift but there is no argument that it changes the geometry of the suspension and does increase stress on the CV axle.Agreed.
