Gen Jones (tail end of the boomers but don’t really fit in). Never owned a truck per se, but we are starting to downsize in life and this means I can sell the small utility trailer and prepare for moving back to living in to a Strata. The price was right! Had to pay a bit more in CAD and I added some warranty and replacement cost add ons to make my upcoming retirement expenditures more predictable. The price was right so I paid cash (because I could afford to and it made the most sense)!

I think they were targeting youth, but they ended up with a truck that has very broad appeal.

They would definitely rather keep selling F-150 Raptors to guys my age.

As a young person looking for the "American Dream" in this economy, the Maverick was the best choice for price/versatility that it offers.

None of the above. 67 and retired.

I’m with you. Don’t need a large 4 x 4 truck anymore. Retired boomers that still do the small stuff is a big market. Live in a 55 community, see Mavericks and a few less Santa Cruz’s here.

The target market is men who want a truck and have nothing to compensate for.
True. But, I'm also compensating for my divorce (spending less, moving less). But, with the Maverick, I don't feel like I'm sacrificing much.

As an older millennial, I can say I am by far the youngest owner I've seen.

The same thing happened to Toyota when they spun up Scion and Honda with the Element. Made for the young, almost exclusivity purchased by the 45+ crowd.

You described this Gen X'er pretty close. Bought an brand new XB in 2005 at 34. I really, really, really miss that car. It was perfect for cheap commuting and mods.

Scion tc was most definitely driven by youths whether they paid or their parents did.

The other Scions were bought by people who valued utility and mpg. Certainly not anyone that cared about towing or performance, LOL.

There was really no reason for the brand to exist. All of those could have been successful as Toyotas. They had a fixed non-negotiable price like Saturn, but that was a dumb stunt anyway, dealerships just lowballed everyone on trade-ins and slapped on junk fees and 'protection packages'.

Getting way off topic... Again, the Maverick is not targeted at any one generation or functional group. It has very wide appeal.

Could you change the poll to include the other generations? That would give an overall picture of the forum folks, which is 100% representative of the market demographics :ROFLMAO:

I have never seen a millennial or Gen Z behind the wheel of a Maverick. All gray hairs. Gen X and older. Why? 2 reasons. Too many younger buyers can't afford them, even though they are lower priced. And those who can afford a decent payment want a showier vehicle.

I believe it's simply people who aren't interested in making a "look at me" statement and just want an affordable vehicle. Essentially, it's people with practical common sense.
