Same thing. Mine went off on a 7% grade pulling my 1500lb trailer in my 4K FX4 running 91 octane. It was in the middle of the temp gauge and 10 seconds later, it was maxed out. I let off the throttle and turned off the AC and it went right back to the middle of the temp gauge a few seconds...
Yup. Clean Carfax. I've only seen it get hot once and derate, and only while towing up a gnarly grade in hot(ish) weather. There's a reason that they use AZ to torture test cars.
I pulled my small 5X8 camper up a gnarly mountain pass this weekend and saw similar results.
The trailer is clear under my 4K tow rating (probably weighs less than 2k) and falls well within the frontal area ratings too. I've also been running 91 all summer in preparation for these camping...
