You can bump current automatic shifters into neutral just fine without having to apply brakes.
Not really concerned with neutral. This is the first vehicle I have owned/driven that can be put into park with out deliberate motion action (button, clutch, notch, etc!)

I may just be clumsy, but does anyone else have issues which accidentally bumping the shifter dial and it going into neutral while driving. I have done this several times when reaching for a drink or something out of the console in front of the shifter. I like the dial shifter but think it should have some kind of catch for each position. Creates the potential for an accident.
I have done similar things with mine. “Back in the day” you had to push a button on the shifter to go into reverse, neutral or park.

Did you know that if you forget to put the truck in park when you shut it off it will be in park when you restart the truck?

It’s really just an electric switch. I’ve left my vehicle in drive accidentally and shut it off. When you start it back up it’s magically in park again.
While running I've opened the door in D and heard it move to P automatically. Seatbelt had to be undone.

The computer treats it like neutral until it slows down enough to stop.

Those cars didn't require the button to be pressed to be shifted to neutral from drive, but to go any further in either direction it needed the brake pressed and the button.

I'd just like to point out to everyone that it could be worse. You could be driving a Tesla in which Elon the Magnificent removed BOTH the shifter AND the turning signals. Because you know, you don't need those.

Twice in the last week, on a 2,000 mile trip -- once while reaching for a cup in the forward cupholder and once while reaching into the open space ahead of the shifter -- mine went into neutral.

Last year, while going 60mph, I reached for a cup, brushed the shifter, and about had a heart attack when it went into reverse. I can't remember if any warning displayed on the dash because I was actually glancing down as I reached, but the indicator light at R flashed and I immediately spun the dial to D. No damaged done, but it did decelerate since it appeared to go into neutral.

Yes I have had issues when grabbing a drink from cup holders and it bumping the dial into nuetral. Now I lift straight up then bring over as if I still had a traditional shifter.

Nope. Only mishap I had was when going to put my phone on the charging pad, I bumped into the Start/Stop button. Fortunately I was stopped.

I HATE the dial shifter.
With a stick, I knew what I was doing, but with the dial, I always have to look at it to see what I need.
Maybe I will get used to it, but since October, I still think it was a cheap way for Ford to package the truck.

Passengers have knocked mine into "Park" (actually neutral) on the highway a couple times.

I wish they would have designed it with a lockout requiring you to lift and twist, but that would cost more money.
