I may have to resort to that. Or something.stick a sturdy piece of cardboard between the right side of the seat and the console that ought to fix it.
What if you don't want it in park?I must say that I enjoy how I can pull in somewhere and just turn off the key. It goes into park all by itself. Yes, I know, very lazy of me. But, one less step to getting out of the vehicle.
Stick the sumbitch back on and hope that it works?Wait till the dial comes off in your hand, Then what will you do ?
oh you'll think of something! sure would be great if you could adjust the tension on the shifter...I may have to resort to that. Or something.
The dial shifter finally got me. I was cruising down the road, cruise set at the traditional 5 over the speed limit, when the Mav suddenly lost power, and the cruise turned itself off. Traffic was fairly light so I signaled and eased my way over to the right shoulder to stop.
Thoughts of a major failure came to mind. I was expecting the dash to light up like a Christmas tree, with every warning known to man. CPU failure was my first thought.
As I was coming to a stop, I looked down and noticed that the shifter was in Neutral. I had nudged my leg against it and accidentally turned it a notch to the left, towards neutral. And that was all that was wrong.
Now, imagine if I were in heavier traffic and couldn't easily get to the right berm - there would undoubtedly have been a major accident.
So put me solidly in the club that does not like the knob shifter, and would prefer a standard floor shifter lever, or even a column shifter. But at least I know what to look out for now. I'll fashion some sort of shield or something to keep my leg from nudging it out of gear.
My driving leg? I keep my left leg off to the left side (no clutch to use, it doesn't do anything), and my right on the floor usually in front of the brake pedal or so. I saw this thread and was curious the other day, I'm 6'3" and had to try to find a position where I could come close to the dial shifter. And in that position, I sure as heck would have hit the 6 speed I had on my Mazda out of gear or definitely been shoving other cars into manual mode by then.Ok - when using cruise control - does no one else move their legs around the minor space available?
Where does your go-pedal leg go when using cruise?
