"Sorry to hear about your very frustrating time with your Mav"

Sounds just like what a Ford executive would say to you - then going on to say good luck - LOL

Good luck with the new truck. Looks cool.
With all the voices on the Mav ranging between its been great with no problems and its been a nightmare, makes we wonder if Ford has the smarts or ability to research this.
What crew / shift was working when Mav's with happy owners were made?
Who were the drunks who put together the Mav's that have been a nightmare for owners?
I wonder if the vin sequence or other info gives Ford enough info to know during what shift a truck was put together.
It's Ford so they probably won't care or too dumb to figure it out.
If it were my company I'd be figuring that info out real fast.

Today I ended my saga with the highly anticipated time I would spend with my loaded XLT. It started in Oct. of 2021 when I Placed my order and welcomed it with open arms on May 5th, 2022. Almost 2 years to the day ... it's gone. The past 3 months have been a real pain in the ass. Ford Motor Company is at fault. In late February the first of 4 complete power losses occurred with my 2.0 Eco/AWD Maverick. They occur while at a stop waiting for a light change or at a stop sign. That is when the complete loss of power occurs and all the warning systems and dash signs start flashing. From that point, it will not restart requiring a tow truck to get it to the dealer. I need to add that this is with 39000 miles. Needless to say who pays the bill for this cluster from here on out? The dealer and Ford at this point can't figure out why this happened ... no reports of this happening and since the vehicle starts right up when it gets to the dealer the only code showing when analyzed is a loss of communication code. The battery is fine and they set the computer ... keep it a week and drive to see if it will do it again ... in the meantime, I am out of the truck I need and have no real answers. In March the same thing happened again twice. Reset the computer and keep your fingers crossed. I filed a case with Ford at the suggestion of the dealer ... that is a real disappointment and a complete waste of time. The service dept warned me they are hard to get a hold of even for them. How about only speaking to the Ford Customer Rep one time when I initially called while I was sitting on the side of the road waiting 2 hours for the wrecker?!! I can go on but won't. The picture of Mav was taken today at the Ford dealer while getting my stuff out of it. It is awaiting another recall fix for the body module causing the stop lights to Stop working. Then while my service writer was driving the Mav he was hearing a low growling noise in the rear end ... so they are looking at that next. Plus I have a bill for a new battery they say is now not producing enough amps to recalibrate the computer of the bullshit Ford didn't figure correctly when they built it. The cherry on the Sundae occurred this Wednesday when calling my Ford Customer Representative in Dearborn to get them to pay for the $270.00 battery. I waited on hold listening to some insane music repeated for over 20 minutes only to be told by a machine there were no representatives available to call back later ...click. The camel's back was broken ... I now have a 2023 Frontier PRO 4X loaded with 8,200 miles a $47,600 MSRP for $37,891. Nissan gave me $26,000 for the Mav that I paid $33,000 for 2 years ago

. And the dealer did the deal sight unseen and they own it and are picking it up from Ford when they are done doing their recalibrating and rear-end investigation.
.I am happy and sad ... I liked the Mav except for the bullshit for the past 3 months. The Nissan is a step up in the feel of more quality.
you did fantastic 26k is great. I would’ve made them put you in a 24 Maverick hybrid it’ll hold it resell a lot better but you did really good. Maybe you can’t use a hybrid I don’t know. sorry for your issues, but the numbers seem to be in your favor.

I get it. I've been car shopping the last couple of weeks. My Mav has been in and out of the Ford Dealer since January. I really like my Maverick, but probably not enough to cash out and start again.

I know the benefits of newer vehicles but I miss the times where I could easily diagnose and fix everything myself.

I am in agreement with you regarding your hypothesis. The recalls done since the end of March regarding the power loss issue seems to have stopped the postings in here of stalled Mavericks. However, Ford needs to get everyone (from corporate down to the dealership service department) on board with this. I've worked for 3 different MAJOR corporations and whenever there was a big situation, it was all hands on deck.

I myself did not want to wait for my local dealership to get up to date. Just yesterday, after my flooded Die hard battery that I replaced in January (after owning the truck since October of 2023) completely died. I installed a Duralast Platinum Battery, size 47 680 CCA H5-AGM. I made sure the new battery was fully charged up before I installed it. I then reset the BMS and let it set overnight.

Others in here have noted that in Forscan, our truck software is loaded to stabilize AGM batteries, not standard flooded batteries. It has been noted in here (MaverickTruckClub) that AGM batteries recover their charge faster and retain their charge longer. Thus AGM is a better battery for the software loaded on our trucks.

I carry with me my own booster starter and that is why I immediately went and bought the AGM battery. To think that a truck with barely 5500 miles would have issues like this! If I didn't like so much of the other things the Maverick has to offer, I would probably sell mine. With this new AGM battery, I feel I am done with the "sleep messages" and dead battery issues. I will be hooking up with a local person who has Forscan and have my battery setting changed from 80% to 95%. That should seal the deal.
Yours is the first I've heard of a Diehard A4 flooded failing in a hybrid Mav. I've already changed to 95% via Forscan--hope that keeps my own Diehard alive. No deep sleep issues since putting in the Diehard, but if I have issues, I will be going the AGM route. No tolerance for battery issues here!

That is so true ... Most of Ford's recent recalls involve "recalibrating the computer".

I really like my Ford dealer and they were obviously willing to work with me. Trouble is they had nothing in stock and dealers here are not trading Mavericks. So that meant ordering one. I wasn't doing that again.

You certainly put up with a lot of B.S. Not what one expects when buying a new vehicle. I don't blame you in the least for jumping ship. An unreliable vehicle does not instill confidence. Since it is not branded as a "lemon", I feel for the next unsuspecting owner.

I'm not making excuses for FoMoCo but being an early adopter has it's risks. Maybe that's why FoMoCo initially offered Mav's at such a low price.

Ford is not new at this game and it is disappointing to read about the reliability issues so many are having. Ford CEO Farley acknowledged the cost of repairs under warranty was affecting profitability a couple of annual reports ago. He should have been more worried about customer satisfaction as people like you won't be a Ford customer anytime soon. 2 dead after vehicle crosses I-275 median, is hit by another vehicle early Sunday (detroitnews.com)

Here's to a better experience in your Nissan.
I have a 1st year Mav have 16K on it , pure xl hybrid, and honestly I have not had one problem with it except for those 'grabby brakes' that were fixed via a software upgrade, I don't think it has anything to do with being a 1st year vehicle, I jumped in as the price was outstanding and really 0 actual probs. It does seem though that it's the build and software that are contributing to most of the issues we read about. I do think that the reliance on software controlling most of the functionality (I don't know why they didn't just rely on the old tried and true 'fast blinker' when a turn signal goes out method, grabby brakes is sort of silly), so far there have been 4 issues resolved by software updates.

I understand your frustration and I had a similar experience with Toyota and my new Tundra which is considered one of the most reliable vehicle. I ended up selling it back to the dealer. I then purchased a 2022 Frontier SV. Was a great little truck but it was sold to a local Honda dealer but for personal reasons and not at all the truck's fault. I had Frontier for two years and about 40,000 miles. Truck was solid but I did have a few issues. The hood never fit very well and had a large gap on the passenger side. I had Nissan repair it but it was never perfect. The fuel door never fit well into the body. I had on recall performed for the intake manifold after the check engine light came on one morning. There are two rubber grommet at the tailgate opening that kept falling off when I washed the truck with the car brush. The driver's seat was a little narrow and was a little uncomfortable on longer drivers. Fuel mileage was OK but not outstanding (19-20mpg @ 75mpg). I bought our 2024 hybrid Maverick for my wife to replace our 10 year old Camry. I do find the seats more comfortable then the Frontier and the cabin is more spacious. Fuel mileage has been outstanding. If our Maverick starts to have issues, I wouldn't hesitate to dump it.

Lol I'd love to know what that actually means. Reset it? I currently have an issue with my Mav. Three weeks to get an appointment. I expect thats what they will tell me.

Those professing that this is caused by a bad battery just may be onto something. I had a totally defective battery in my Maverick from the git go. Less than a week after taking ownership my Auto Start Stop quit working and never worked again until the battery was replaced with a new AGM.

It has now been 2 months since the battery was replaced and everything is working as designed.

I suppose the OP's issue very easily could have happened to me. I dunno.

My DieHard was a T4 470 CCA 585 CA 70 minute reserve flooded battery. Within the 4 months of having it, I received 4 "sleep" messages. The last one was the nail in the coffin. After receiving the last message, I went out to my truck and clicked my remote and nothing happened. Had to unlock the truck with my key. Battery was completely dead. This tells me that in the four months since the battery was installed, it wasn't getting enough charging from the system. During that 4 months, I did several 200 mile round trips. What was really disturbing was after I did 4 hour highway trip (2-hours up, 2-hours back), I received a "sleep" message the next morning!! Go figure!

During that 4 months, I trickle charged it twice and did a full hard charge a month ago. And before anyone asks, yes, I do have an after market amplifier system installed, BUT, it is on it's own circuit that I manually shut off every time I leave my truck. In essence, my add-on is on its own circuit and is powered on and off by me. I did this because the truck would not fully shut off the amp sometimes up to 45 minutes after I shut off the truck.

Yeah, I know some VWs have had some issues. I do think the new mqb platform has been pretty solid though. I actually have a 2016 VW Golf that has had no issues except for a leaking sunroof that they fixed under recall.
