Hit a deer with my truck mirror in upper Wisconsin with my Wisconsin girlfriend. I went back to find the deer and I wondered where my girlfriend was. She comes running up a moment later, turns out she was getting out her big knife to gut the deer. The deer had gotten up and run away but that's the difference between my Wisconsin and Illinois girlfriend. The Illinois girlfriend would just sit there losing it.Last night on the way back from work I hit a six point buck. He jumped the ditch and I caught his back end with the front drivers side of my maverick. I’ve had the maverick 11 months and put on 27,000 miles. I plan to take to a Ford approved collision center. Let me know if you have any other tips, I have submitted a claim to my insurance and am waiting to hear back. I’ve heard parts take awhile to receive and are expensive. Any guesses on what this is going to cost to repair? I’m expecting a new bumper and headlight at minimum. The gap between the hood and fender also have me concerned there could be more.

I hear you but I keep hoping-awhile back there was a thread about installing a bull bar but it sounded jury rigged and sounded like it would be even more difficult on my Tremor! There really isn't a great way to get a brush or bull bar on the front of a Maverick. It's a whole lot of plastic and not great front sub-frame to try and hook up to.
Same here it's uncommon not to see a carcass in the daily commute, have hit 2 one in a Windstar with a wrecked front end, the other in my Chrysler 200 hit the hind quarter at 50 mph the deer kept going and not even a scratch in the paint, then a kind of where the semi in front of me hit one, it was in the middle of the road at night so i ran over what his wheels didn't flattenI wouldn't be overly worried about the hood/fender gap until someone looked at it. Could just be the way the panel flexed upon impact. At least you're okay and the vehicle isn't severely damaged.
I worry about deer too. As someone else posted about NY deer.... Yeah, they're big, and I commute through what I call deer strike alley. I'm always willing to let someone else "lead" traffic in the morning.
You only see/hit the ones who HAVEN'T learned!I have hit many deer of the course of 50 years of driving. Some have hit me. Always thought this disproves Darwins theory of evolution. They never learn!
I did same dead in road deer in a 2006 RAV4! Was $5200!Same here it's uncommon not to see a carcass in the daily commute, have hit 2 one in a Windstar with a wrecked front end, the other in my Chrysler 200 hit the hind quarter at 50 mph the deer kept going and not even a scratch in the paint, then a kind of where the semi in front of me hit one, it was in the middle of the road at night so i ran over what his wheels didn't flatten
This just happened to me in October. Took two months to get her back, cost north of $11,000Last night on the way back from work I hit a six point buck. I've never really had a problem. Snow and ice just melts off and I guess I'm lucky enough to not get bugs to hit exactly in the whistles. Pipe cleaners would take care of that I believe if needed. They do slide off the bases to make them easier to clean if needed. How do you keep them working? The ones I've seen get plugged with bugs or snow/ice depending on the season.
Well I haven't hit a deer in years since using them. Placebo or not, I'll use them.Never seen any real proof that deer whistles work.
Total placebo gimmick.
I’m gonna go with Straight sevens like a Vegas deal and say it’s gonna cost $7777.77Last night on the way back from work I hit a six point buck. The blood is a nice touch. I need that on the front of my Maverick so pedestrians RUN.Just to give you an idea. This deer strike cost about $4,500.00 and it was completed within a couple of weeks.
