Last night on the way back from work I hit a six point buck. He jumped the ditch and I caught his back end with the front drivers side of my maverick. I’ve had the maverick 11 months and put on 27,000 miles. I plan to take to a Ford approved collision center. Let me know if you have any other tips, I have submitted a claim to my insurance and am waiting to hear back. I’ve heard parts take awhile to receive and are expensive. Any guesses on what this is going to cost to repair? I’m expecting a new bumper and headlight at minimum. The gap between the hood and fender also have me concerned there could be more.

Sorry to see that, and glad no injuries. Too many deer in many urban and suburban areas. Always good to make sure the adjuster sees the fur in the creases. My guess is $6500.

Thank goodness it wasn’t worse and you’re ok. How does the alignment feel?

Headlight alone is $1,200.

Just curious, Do you know if the 1200 is with modules or a blank light assembly? I'm used to German stuff where the modules rot out of the bottom of the lights. Headlights end up being $4k (or more) Or is the Mav the BCM-wires-Lamp assembly as a unit?

From as much as I can tell from a single photo. Put my guess down as $4500.

That's one thing I don't miss about living up north. Friggen deer are the size of horses! Had multiple run-ins with deer when I lived in upstate NY, one which cost me an AC condenser and a new grill on my Honda Element, and the other bashed my beater car to crap but was still drivable. The good news there is that the car wouldn't get a second glance from anyone. You could leave $20 sitting on the seat with the car unlocked and no one would even bother stealing your stuff.

Here in FL they're way smaller.

I wouldn't be overly worried about the hood/fender gap until someone looked at it. Could just be the way the panel flexed upon impact. At least you're okay and the vehicle isn't severely damaged.

I worry about deer too. As someone else posted about NY deer.... Yeah, they're big, and I commute through what I call deer strike alley. I'm always willing to let someone else "lead" traffic in the morning.
