I also struck a deer (doe) while heading home through our neighborhood. I saw her coming at me across from the left and although I had slowed down I couldn't get stopped and hit her dead center front of the truck.

I heard the impact and saw the deer go over and then her 4 feet/paws as she rolled across/over the pavement, in front of the truck, and then back up on her feet and the next thing I saw was her sprint down the hill into the trees to the right of the truck.

Once home I knew I was going to see damage (just wondering how much) when much to my satisfaction all I saw was some hair/fur along the front grill and bumper but no other visible damage. I'm so glad that the impact wasn't severe enough to cause frontal damage or injure the deer to where she couldn't run off. Glad that the Air Bag(s) didn't deploy which was a concern I thought about afterward. It happened so fast that I can see how so many of them are hit. They just can't seem to recognize the danger with the vehicle.

Dang....I have no guess on cost. I had 12 "seen" deer in my front half of 28 acres this am. Back half of place has 60-70% Ashe Juniper coverage so have no idea how many back there. Have to watch really close and drive 35mph or less about six miles from my place to hopefully see in time to slow down or stop. Need to break out chain saw again since cannot afford dozer burn crew.

I'm going to guess $6500. But you can console yourself with a nice Venison steak.

Sucks...I hit a spike a couple weeks ago but I was lucky enough to see it on the opposite side on the road in the ditch. At the last second it darted right at me. 45mph zone, hammered the brakes on and knocked it down. It got stuck for a quick second under the bumper. I could here it kicking the crap out of the front. Laid on the horn and reversed really quick. It hopped up then proceeded to jump into a field fence and tangle himself up for a second. He got himself out and then ran back behind the Maverick to the same damn spot he just came from. I had 5min left to my jobsite and I was pizzed thinking of broken grill or scratched up front. I got lucky and 0 damage. I actually think the PPF helped save the scratches on the front. I could see where his hoofs scraped along it.

Glad yours ain't totalled

Last night on the way back from work I hit a six point buck. He jumped the ditch and I caught his back end with the front drivers side of my maverick. I’ve had the maverick 11 months and put on 27,000 miles. I plan to take to a Ford approved collision center. Let me know if you have any other tips, I have submitted a claim to my insurance and am waiting to hear back. I’ve heard parts take awhile to receive and are expensive. Any guesses on what this is going to cost to repair? I’m expecting a new bumper and headlight at minimum. The gap between the hood and fender also have me concerned there could be more.

Mine was similar bumper cover grille + shutters behind grill & headlight wasn’t known until they took off fender tabs were broken and it was cheaper to get new fender than small refinishing $4500-ish

I’m going to say $500 if you bring it to a shop, or $150 if you have your own smoker at home. Could be higher depending on how fancy you get with the seasonings and casings if going for venison sticks.

That really sucks! My guess is $5400.
I think If I lived in "Deer Country" I would have to get a huge push bar for the front of my truck.
Best of luck!

I live in Deep East Texas and deer are plentiful. I've hit more than my fair share of deer. I found some "Deer Whistles" at Walmart. They are small, inconspicuous and easy to install. Have not had any deer jump out in front of any of my vehicles once these were installed. Cost was around $5.00 and took minutes to install. I highly recommend them! I ordered my new Maverick in September, 2022 and still waiting on delivery. Yea, almost 15 months. That's crazy!

I believe the proper word is "venison." Good luck: the first Austin Healey I ever saw was the result of a collision with a big buck up near Yosemite, about 1957. The only way I could tell it was a Healey was by the back bumper.

I have hit many deer of the course of 50 years of driving. Some have hit me. Always thought this disproves Darwins theory of evolution. They never learn!

Just to give you an idea. This deer strike cost about $4,500.00 and it was completed within a couple of weeks.

In 48 years of driving, I have hit only 1 deer. My guess is $6000 for the repair.
