Guess the repair cost!! [paint missing from front bumper]

No warning lights but 2 shops said R&R may trigger a recalibrate. Nearest colors on parade is 350 miles away. The Maverick has less than 800 miles on it and I am a bit worried about a blended in repair in the AZ sun.

I would be very careful using paint touch up service. The quality of work will depend on the technician. I had a problem with a factory paint issue. A plastic composite piece was not prepared properly and a little black plastic piece was higher than the paint so it was not covered by the paint. A technician showed up and destroyed the car then showed up again and destroyed other parts of the car. Since it was a factory defect so I got a new car.

I’d agree….touch up matching paint with an artists brush.

Hit my Cayman’s front bumper… with a garage door handle and three different quotes and NO ONE would touch up a 2 inch stretch without taking off the bumper to paint. All comments were having to cover the entire car with tarp to paint, it was easier to remove the bumper….mainly due to having to match the “clear coat”. Estimates were from $500 to $600.

I had the bumper pulled and repaired then painted, I also had the silver grille bar painted Chili Pepper Red at the same time. Here in AZ I see lots of two tone bumpers after a paint blend gone bad and decided to do it right rather than the pizza face look. The color matched grille bar looks sharp.

Recalibration is code for PROFIT taking. Had a very similar chip on my Mercedes was quoted $1800 at Caliber Collision including a road test (for a friggin’ chip). Took it to the Mercedes dealership and fixed it for less than $400 with no trace of a repair.

I was fueling up my Maverick and trying to get the pump to accept my CC when another person yelled and said a white pickup hit my Maverick. Sure enough there was paint missing from the bumper and the other vehicle was nowhere to be seen. Went for a repair estimate today. No wonder the other pickup took off without stopping! $1162.00 and if the front sensor needs calibration after reassembly it will be another $400-500
