I think it was a bonehead move on Ford to get rid of their most well-revered feature and now make it a $200 dealer-installed option. Sounds like corporate greed to me. And that's before labor. Factor that in and it'll probably be around $300 just for a keypad that was once standard from the factory, at least on the Lariat trim. I know it's not a big deal and it can be easily remedied by the dealer but I shouldn't have to do that. I love this feature on my '22 and I'm gonna hate having to add one from the dealer. Unless I gain some FordPass points to use towards it so it's not out of pocket, then it's no biggie at all. But still, c'mon Ford, you're known for that feature. You've been using it for the last 30 years plus. Don't get rid of it! Just thought I'd point this out and vent. Pointless overall but I'm sure others feel the same way.
It's not a big deal to me since they have remote start and lock/unlock from the Ford App. Unless of course you are in the deep thickets of nature with no cell service.

Which is where I use it the most camping in the mountains and canoeing.

FORD are experts at corporate greed tho...
huh? The alternative is driving a Lada, if you're lucky enough to get one. Sounds like when Biden called out the oil companies for excess profits when they averaged $.07 a gallon and the Governet averaged $1.28 a gallon.

I was OK with gaining the battery wired keypad and sacrificing the engine heater when I made the switcheroo from my 24 build to a 23 that was on the lot. I'll be looking for an aftermarket engine heater, but I couldn't have replaced the battery wired keypad.
I ordered my 23 xlt with lux and the only two options I added were all weather mats and the block heater. I honestly think the lack of a wired keypad would have been a deal breaker for me.

So for me Its a must, While I have the app I don't trust that I will always have service or that I may not lose my phone. When we go to theme parks or anywhere where I am doing a lot of walking and physical activity I lock my keys in the truck. Less stuff in my pockets jabbing me when getting on and off a ride. I can unlock my door a lot faster with the keypad than I can with the App.

My 24 Lariat hybrid that I received last week has both. The window deicer and keypad. The deicer is listed on the Ford build site under the LUX package. We did pay to have the dealer install the keypad. But it works the exact same way as the factory one.
@gwrace14651 , now that we've seen some cold weather, can you confirm that your '24 Lariat has the WW de-icer or not?

Is the wiper heater an option at least? Thankfully I have a carport that is fully enclosed but there was a time when I didn't and it was basically an extra half hour worth of work in the morning lol. Sadly at that time I also did not have remote start 🥶

eh... most people don't care anyways. I can't even count how many people I see driving with an unsafe amount of snow/ice on their vehicles and less than a quarter sized peephole in the windshield. It's awful. I refuse to be one of them.
Well it's January I am near Austin with cold and freezing forecast. Guess it's about time to get manual out and find the dang switch for the wiper heater! Did not use it the first winter. When I lived in Amarillo and awhile in DFW during time with ice on windshield I just used an empty milk jug full of cold tap water (was worried hot water might crack windshield?). If ice was inch+ thick it would take three jugs but most of time one would melt it.

That sucks! I absolutely adore that feature and just said "I'll never buy another one without one!" That is one of your signature features Ford... quit nickel & diming us to death. It likely costs <$50 at the factory level. Crying shame... keep it up - chiseling away at the features (not even 2 key fobs, what the heck??) - that Hyundai is looking pretty good for my next one. You are quickly becoming NOT THE ONLY PRODUCT in town. Don't ruin what got you here in the first place Ford.
I am member of a small group that believes that dropping the keypad was an availability issue. Limited supply for an item that most likely 60+% don't care about. This allows trucks to be built and delivered and ordered or added at a later time when available!

Given the roughly 24% decline in Ford stock over the last 6 months I suspect there will be even further cost cutting for the MY25 Maverick in the name of attempting to increase profit margin
Yep, decline was great, finally got to buy back the stock I sold for $24.00 at $12.00. Now waiting for "if prior day close greater than $18.00 sell for $19.80".

You must work for Ford... that's a pretty impassioned defense!

Seems to me that it was just a logical thought. Don't have to work for the company to make a logical guess. Not everyone defaults to an emotional conclusion like yours and then think anyone with a differing opinion is a company shill.

You didn't receive two fobs? I did when I bought mine.

Nope just acknowledge existence of chip shortage or maybe something like "we cannot obtain enough wiring harness in time". Only Ford knows, but I believe there is some reason obviously well known in advance and Ford is not likely to arbitrarily reduce desirability by not installing an item that cost less than $1-$3.

I imagine the total cost was more than that. The 22-23 version was fitted into the door, so a unique door stamping, a unique applique, a different door wiring harness, plus the actual keypad itself.
