Not all of them require that. I wouldn’t pay extra for the warranty, but I did get one included from one dealership. I asked if I had to get it serviced there (it was a 2 hour drive from my house). They said that I did have to get it serviced from a certified location not necessarily them. They recommended against DIY.Of course there is a catch. I've bought from dealers who do this before. The catch is you must service it exclusively at their dealership and by their schedules.
It is not worth the paper it is written on. That's why they offer it for free.
