Talked to my sales rep last week for a smaller Ford dealership in Oregon. He said out of the 65 orders they took in September for MY23, only 10 out of 65 have been built. That didn't make me feel much better. I have a 2023 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid XLE tagged for me to buy that'll be delivered in Mid July. Not sure if I should just give up on my dream of owning a Maverick. Haven't enjoyed the limited communication followed by a general 45- day email saying "sucks to suck".

Although I’m still waiting for my XLT hybrid ordered on 9/16, the evolution of the conversions on this app/website make me believe most of us waiting for our ticket to be pulled will be happy in the next few months. There are far more forums about having the truck and all the options and enjoyment regarding the truck than whiners like me waiting for truck. Six months ago, this was not the case at all.

Tim said all his allocations were filled last week. So, take that for what it's worth.

Which dealer if you don't mind me asking? Fellow Oregonian here 👋.

I was considering that option myself until I got scheduled last week. A well equipped Maverick puts you in entry level Ridgeline territory.
Especially with the ridiculous dealer mark-ups. Ridgeline is a nicer vehicle.

Good for the dealer, bad for the consumer who is waiting on an order.
Fair point, but then again Ford's relationship is with their dealer network, not the end user. Ford makes their nut by selling inventory to dealers, not when inventory is retailed - so a stock unit is the same as a retail unit to them. Obviously one hand washes the other, so Ford has an interest in keeping the end user happy and engaged. However, if there is excess capacity over retail allocations for a certain dealer, Ford will build units and sell them to the dealer as stock inventory.

This philosophy isn't exclusive to Ford and is just a function of the dealer model, good or bad.

Hard pass on the Ridgeline for me. I'd rather drive a Minivan.

Same here. Oddly enough, the 2024 Tacoma has more of my attention than the 24 Ranger. And I bleed Ford blue, and have never bought a Import brand.
It’s very interesting to me also!!!

Take the Toyota and enjoy!!! Then sit back and wait until you get the call that your maverick is in. It may be awhile but at that time you can make another decision whether you want it

Would that mean then for the rest of the month scheduling's, he should not get any and other dealerships will? As in the football draft reference that his picks are in, and now all the other teams with picks get to go? Or what are the chances that they will add more to his the following weeks?

Yes, his draft picks are in. No more for him until next month's allocations. Only way he gets any more is if Ford realizes they have some more allocations they can give out and he gets one.

I'm on team XL. Hope my hitch doesn't cause a hitch in my order! Good luck to everyone!
Funny (or sad) how, when we ordered our trucks, the constraints were completely different than now. When I ordered last September, the constraints on my XL were mainly cosmetic (mud flaps, window visors, bed liners). Since then, constraints have also included hitches. Some folks have changed their orders to remove items currently constrained; but who knows what will be constrained next week or next month? The song plays on.

this is actually positive and how it is supposed to work. They are adapting in real time on what they can build based on confirmed availability of deliveries from vendors. That drives everything in the manufacturing world with JIT. The only thing constant is change...
