Ok, so on a business level, 8 Ford fleet vehicles currently. 90% of service at Ford. A 2015 F-350 gasser engine went at 26,000 miles. Beyond the warranty time. New engine required, about $11,000 A known problem according to forums, but apparently the HQ is not aware. Loyalty score was apparently zero. But thanks for breaking it to me......
26000 miles was beyond warranty? And I am sure your loyalty score was not zero. That is a huge repair, but one thing to keep in mind. When Ford assists, they will almost always ask the dealer to participate as well. When I was with Lincoln, if the factory was assisting we never said no at our dealer. Never. But that is also up to that individual dealer. You say you have 8 fleet trucks. All bought at the dealer where you were asking for assistance? If so, then that is a reflection on that dealer. Ford is a business. And if they wrote checks to every out of warranty client that asked for help they would have a failing business model. These situations suck. For everyone involved. But warranty periods exist for a reason. At the end of the day, people seem to forget this.

Posting this as a caution to anyone considering a hybrid. This is concerning the heat exchanger which seems to be a common issue. I took delivery of my truck 3-28-2022. Around September with 20,000 miles I had an appointment scheduled for an engine shield recall. Days before my appointment, I began to get notifications in the app that battery power was low and all remote systems were disabled. Dealer found no issue causing this. Now at 38,000 miles, I have a check engine light with codes 237c and 237d. The cause was deemed to be the heat exchanger in the hybrid system (GREAT! Should be under the hybrid system warranty). Wrong. Sent home with the vehicle and told it is safe to drive. After speaking with the warranty department, I’m on my own for a $1500 repair on a part that should be covered under warranty. I have a shake at idle that started when the check engine light came on also. I was told that sometimes they’d offer to cover the cost based on circumstances but since I’m not a loyal ford customer, I’m out of luck. Mind you, I’m 26 and this is my first new vehicle ever owned. Just beware that after the 36,000 mile warranty, it’s a crapshoot whether anything (including power train) will be covered. Despite being maintained based on the maintenance schedule and services being done at the dealer, ford doesn’t care. Mine will be for sale after this repair and I’ll be Toyota shopping again based on solely customer service. My dealer’s service manager told me that this seems to be a common theme with ford’s warranty department in the last year. He told me that they thought it would be covered without question and he even requested it be covered again to no avail.
I don’t see this vehicle making it to 100,000 miles without extensive repairs and costs.
Since you are out of warranty I can see this, HOWEVER, , most dealers could get this covered under warranty if asked nicely. My BMW was 4K past warranty, and was able to get 5K worth of work taken care of, just have to ask.

These symptoms were present from 23,000 miles until you got the heat exchanger diagnoses at 38,000 miles?
I had some symptoms with a “battery level low, all remote systems disabled” notification multiple times. Research shows that this is a related issue prior to failure. Not sure on the specifics but a faulty heat exchanger has been diagnosed starting with this symptom in the past.

It is clear this is a problem part and that plenty of people have had the problem at low mileage. You reported a problem at 23k, in my opinion your issue should be covered.

It looks like a plastic heat exchanger manifold attached directly to the exhaust - genius idea amiright?

It doesn't. I am not saying you are this client, but it is shocking the number of people that buy a new car every ten years and never bring it to the dealer for service and then ask for out of warranty assistance. Factories will help people that show brand loyalty. Simply buying A car, and a low dollar one at that is not reason enough. Nobody got rich off of the sale of a Maverick.
I hear ya, but I'm 48yrs old and (if delivered) my hybrid Mav will be the first new vehicle I've ever purchased. I've always bought used. If I run into the issues like the OP has, it would be the last new vehicle I ever buy from Ford. (I've owned 3 different Tauruses.)

Am I wrong? For as amazing and helpful as forums can be, they are also full of people who post nonsense like this that is not factually accurate and does nothing to help the OP or anyone else reading that might have a similar situation.
I had a Ford Hybrid that had warranty work performed. I was told by Griffith Ford Seguin Texas that any drive train part that was specific to a hybrid was covered for 96,000. The op should at his/her mileage should be covered by either hybrid or non hybrid warranty.

Being condescending does not help anyone.

Deep Sleep (due to low 12V battery) isn't related to the heat exchanger.

You choosing where to spend your own money is the best tool you have. But, for the 1000th time. Buy an extended warranty. Anyone who leaves a brand over something like this is in for a rude awakening if they think it cannot happen at another brand.

Fair point. But, if your dealer told you that they are either lying or stupid. Service guys hate hearing the term "bumper to bumper" That is a fallacy. And hybrid coverage falls under that. It is factually inaccurate that ALL components are covered. And while being condescending doesn't help. Neither does a poster talking out of their ass and giving bad advice. I am one of the people that has to help clients who get bad forum advice. I've done it. I've given bad advice. But when I do, I hope it is because I had some level of real world experience. Not because I am just conjuring up something in my head.

Yeah we'll have to keep an eye on it and see. I mean if you got a 2022, its free b/c they raised the price of the Mav about that much for the 2023's haha.

I had a similar issue with a Honda Accord (leaking sunroof). The part was usually not covered under warranty, but a call to Honda corporate and explanation of the issue (that it was due to manufacturing defect), the part and labor was covered. Sometimes a little bit of legwork is needed to have items approved under warranty.
Same thing happened with my Mazda3. The dashboard melted into a reflective surface and it would literally blind me when driving into the sun. I bugged the hell out of Mazda and they eventually issued a recall for it.
You gotta hammer customer service until they cave or stop picking up the phone.

Let me just share my experience with my Maverick Hybrid. Had the check engine light come on for the same trouble codes for a failing heat exchanger. At the time my truck had 40k on it so out of the basic 3/36 but under the 5/60 powertrain and the 8/100 emissions warranty. My dealership ahs informed that it IS covered by the powertrain warranty since ENGINE coolant does flow through this part and also it would be covered by the emissions warranty as well since it is on the exhaust system. Now my part is on order had waiting till mid April to arrive but my dealer assured me that this is a part that is COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!! Either OP's dealer is being lazy or just flat out DON'T care and want to get paid! Either way there is no excuse as to why Ford would deny coverage on this part!
