How much time does it take you to buy the supplies, do the work, and properly then dispose of the waste? And you would "imagine" Certainly that could happen. But most Ford dealers or even the better quick lubes can have you done in far less time.
You can never change it if you want. But if you have an oiling related failure, and the manufacturer says to change it at specified intervals and you didn't they can and will deny your claim. Why bother saving a $20 filter for a potential $8k engine? And the amount of people with unrealistic...
No, we can't agree. If going from park or reverse to drive you need to look at nothing. You can turn it right as much as you want and it will only go into drive. A minor glance when putting it into reverse, and no look again when putting it into park. Why do people complicate the most basic...
That is not incorrect. Modern cars will retard or advance timing electronically all the time. In part due to the knock sensor, which is the reason why sometimes 87 can be problematic especially in hot weather or when towing or otherwise under heavy load.
For the 150 millionth time on the internet and in this forum, octane has absolutely nothing to do with MPG directly. Mileage changes in between octanes have more to do with ethanol content. What there is, that is undeniable is a performance change and resistance to, or lack thereof against...
I know there are PLENTY of stories of things going wrong at both dealers and quick service places. That said 100's of thousands of cars are serviced every day all across the country without incident. I just can't wrap my head around being that concerned. Though I see it often with clients...
No, not very often. But it is bad or worse when it is 118 out and the pavement temps are 165. The area you live in is beautiful I am sure. But for year round living I won't tolerate cold climates anymore. The OP is also talking about now sucking the oil out and not changing the filter, etc. Its...
The amount of effort, bullshit, hassle and thought someone will put into saving $75 is mind boggling to me. My time and sanity for not having to do this in freezing cold, or do something that might jeopardize my warranty is not even close to being worth it.
I know there are people on this forum not working with a lot of cash. I get that very well. I grew up poor and it took me well into adulthood to really start making a good living. What I will never understand is being cheap. If you can't afford a $32 filter, then you shouldn't be driving a new...
Well for the majority of your life cars did not have those filters. Of course you can run without one, but for the minor expense it does clean the air in the cabin and also helps to reduce a/c odors.
