I just saw your post. I actually experienced it frequently in the first few days with my hybrid, but since I've gotten accustomed to driving it there really hasn't been too many issues. I also wondered if they were shipping recently built ones with new programming, but I'd say based on those first few days - no. I expect it will happen to you eventually.I wonder if they could be shipping with an update to ABS , or will I just need the break in period before I experience it ?
I literally cannot tell a driving difference outside of increased deacceleration when off the gas.
I have only driven 1 other Hybrid (22 Corolla recently) , but have probably driven hundreds of vehicles as I was a paid driver for a dealership for a few years in college, and have driven all different types of vehicles.
I was pretty worried about needing to "learn" the braking system and live with this odd behavior, and I 100% believe everyone so not discrediting anyone on it. I consider myself lucky to not have seen it, at least yet ( knock on wood )

I also sometimes get a jolt/clunk when the ICE shuts off. Not often, but it does happen.
Yeah my build day was 9/10 with a "built" status of 9/19.I thought I had a light thunk, but not abrupt "clunk" a day ago. It was not worrying but I did notice. Still unable to recreate the mushy sudden grab, and I think I am making it worse by always hunting for it looking for it.
Maybe I have it and am just less sensitive to the grab than others ? I am not convinced I have a unicorn truck in not experiencing it, just a unicorn that I actually have one.. You were built in September too right ?
I am sure I will keep obsessing looking for it at low speeds.

I knew it was likely going to be an issue, and it happened almost right away. But it does get easier to drive around after a while. I'm still looking forward to a reprogram.
How many miles do you have?
So you have not used ACC yet? It does OK but the hybrid drivetrain programming really needs polish to make it smoother.152, all my driving is reallllly short.

I might have been spoiled by my recent cars being Mercedes, Porsche, Volvo, Genesis, Acura..I have used it like 3 times on the interstate, both times less than 5 miles, no issues with braking, accelerating I felt like it was being aggressive but was also in normal not in eco, which I believe tames the ACC aggressiveness (at least it did in my XL EB with basic cruise). My old Toyota cruise control was the definition of aggressive.
I really wish I had ACC when I drove half across the country in my XL EB in the summer, but also part of the reason I did it is I was putting miles on a future trade in during a sellers market so I didn't care about miles or risks of paint chips. ( only picked up 1 on the bumper, and 3 tiny pits in the windshield with around 4-5k interstate miles. )
I hate it when the "clunk" happens. Very odd feeling.Yesterday when I was leaving work it was:
1. Cold
2. Raining
3. First starting out into stop and go (slow go) traffic
Which seems to be the trifecta of conditions that make the brake issue most noticeable. My truck was doing it a lot. Push brake pedal - nothing. Push brake pedal harder - nothing. Push harder - Clunk and jerk stop. Crawl a car length further and repeat.
I saw someone else posted that they push the L button on the shift knob when in these conditions so I tried it. It "fixed" it. I am not sure what the L button actually does and have not used it in the 6 months or so I have owned this Maverick hybrid, but I can confirm that the weird braking behavior seems to go away when it is engaged.
Agree. Some are louder or more abrupt than others. Iām aware that it could happen so it doesnāt surprise me as much. I have over 5k miles on mine.I hate it when the "clunk" happens. Very odd feeling.
