Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can assist with your braking concern.
I just sent you a DM with my info. It was an interesting experience Driving through Manhattan traffic with the brake problems.

And lost.
Most “ambulance chasers” aren’t even board certified. They went against a company with over a half a trillion dollar market cap all the way to the Supreme Court. These aren’t lawyers with daytime TV commercials.

I guarantee that interest from that law firm, and the complaints to the NHTSA are exactly why we have Ford responding directly in this very thread here. Facebook has a lot more resources than Ford, seeing as they have 10x their market cap.

Really bizarre claim to make given the Ford social media team has responded to offer assistance in many, many, many threads on this forum alone, despite nobody even mentioning the existence of lawyers.

But whatever you feel the need to tell yourself...

Has anyone had any success going to dealer about this? Every couple of days I’ll be in traffic and the brakes will grab hard enough to feel like someone hit me. I’d take it in but I feel like I’ll probably get the “it’s normal for a hybrid” line until Ford actually comes up with a long term fix.

Hey there! I can look into your Maverick’s brake concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

The only litigious claim I could imagine is someone getting rear-ended or jostled to injury.
In other words: No death, no fix

Has anyone tried driving with both feet? Like from a stop nudge the gas slightly and brake lightly ? Does that get rid of the long brake pedal ? Waiting for a 23 order, so cant test myself....

So let me share some experiences:

In a hybrid a "gentle driver" can go all day, dozens or hundreds of miles without using friction brake pads. The regen from the electric motor can slow you down to 3 mph.

With such gentle, infrequent use, the brake rotors can develop surface rust. And wet brakes will stay wet. Both rust; and wet have lower co-efficient of friction. Thus, the human driver has to press more on the brake pedal.

Quite suddenly; the brakes can get warm enough to instantly dry and instantly grip more firmly. Also rust can wear off in an instant, instantly making the brakes grab.

It may not be a programming error or defect. It may just be laws of physics.

"This is normal for a hybrid" could be the correct answer.

If what you say could be it. then wouldn't all hybrids have this same issue? I asked my buddy who has had 3 prius over the years. Never had any brake issue like what is reported on the Mav.

I’m happy to see FoMoCo is active in this thread. Hopefully a software tweak or similarly easy fix comes of it. So far they’ve been pretty good about being on top of stuff like this that pops up and putting out TSBs/recalls. Despite all the bitching I see on this forum, I do like how active they are on here.

All hybrids with a very gentle driver, yes.
Escape Hybrid from 2005 would do something similar from time to time and there were similar discussions.
