My Maverick has zero problems with breaks. Just like a Hybrid Corolla, I guess.
Me either. I found them a bit different from the way my previous vehicles breaks work, but they are consistent. I got use to maximizing the regen braking very quickly. I don't use my bakes much at all. When I first got my Maverick the non-regen breaker were a bit stiff and took a bit of getting use to, but other than that no issues.

Breaks?
..
Right, breaks! The Mexico labor rules state that each Maverick is entitled to a 15 minute break for every 4 hours driven.

I think people are upset because after waiting for a long time, they're finding issues that normally wouldn't be there.

Like the hybrid regen that's been perfected across all manufacturers but Ford somehow made it so it's cheap!

I myself is in this category and at s crossroad whether to let go of this truck and lose out on a gem of a concept of a hybrid truck which no one else is making. Or keep it and potentially find more issues and concerns down the road.

I'm upset because I want this to work! Like the other's have stated, I don't want to worry about this truck losing power or rear ending someone due to abrupt breaking. Not asking for a lot here, no over the top bells and whistles. Just the Maverick to work how it should!

People who haven't received their truck are quick to get upset because they think we're just whinning and being picky. Until you take delivery I think you ought to hold judgement.

And for those that swear they don't have any issues on their hybrids, I say good for you! But the fact of the matter is that all our trucks are mass produced! It's hard to think that a dozen in a batch are well put together while they mess up the rest.

Sell it. I'll buy it from you. MSRP minus 35 cents a mile. Put your money where your mouth is.
I will give you a call in a year when the Mav I ordered a couple weeks ago comes in. There is definitely something not right with the way my mav brakes. Hoping its just a glitch with the early ones, guess I will find out.

Agree. My 2012 Prius brakes were nothing like these.
My wife complains about the "grabby" brakes on my 2012 Prius C every time she drives it. I've never experienced any "grabbiness" myself. The only think I've noticed (consistently, since the day I bought it) is that at VERY low speed, the regen-function ceases to apply any braking and the mechanical brakes completely take over. That last bit of 3mph to 0mph definitely "bites" a bit harder, but it's relatively easy to get used to it, and just ease off the brakes slightly as you come to a full stop. I suppose I've been driving the car so long that I don't even know I'm doing it, whereas she rarely drives it and it's a "big deal" to her.

Remember you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and this Maverick gets so much attention for BEING CHEAP!

Don't be surprised at the CHEAPNESS!
Don't compare it to other more expensive models.

I saw non-hybrid F-150's on the lot for $83,995.

Some people are not realistic about an$23,000 - $29,000 truck, that by definition is two trucks in one (hybrid) and at least twice as complicated.

I did 15 minutes of tests late last night without traffic. I only had the grabby feel at 3 mph. Right at the transition from regen to friction brakes. If that is when it does it in yours, yes, this is normal for this particular hybrid. Get used to it, or sell it.

Continue to post if you notice this at other speeds.

Why does it have to be cheap. Is there something wrong with frugal?

I actually got to test drive a Maverick Hybrid and I had never driven a hybrid before. Granted it was only a 10-minute spin but I drove around the parking lot, up to 60 on a two-lane road, and through a suburban area with stops and turns. I noticed nothing usual or strange about the braking action. I know there are issues and my salesman tells me they think it is a computer control issue. Seems weird but some are perfect and some have braking abnormalities. Hopefully, this will be fixed on my 23.

I would not say the issue I am having is or should be related to the Mavericks cost. This is a safety issue and should be addressed as such. I have been in two near misses now where the brakes "hesitated" to engage. Typically this occurs in stop and go traffic where you come to a complete stop, slowly accelerate (or don't accelerate, just allowing the truck to creep forward) and then try to stop again as the vehicle slows in front of me. There is a couple seconds where the brakes (even through depressed) fail to engage, forcing me to push down much harder causing a somewhat jarring stop.

This should not be considered normal for any vehicle and needs to be fixed.

I have an idea. since regen braking doesn't function when in neutral and if you have a Mav that has this issue. Try a few times in neutral to see if it can happen in neutral while regen is not operational. I will do it for everybody. BUT someone has to give me there hybrid Mav for a week or two for me to experiment Any takers. lol. .

If I do get a 2023 and if I have this issue I sure will try this.

Hopefully as more people come forward with this, Ford will take notice. Hoping in the meantime no one ends up in an accident because of it.
