Should we all file a complain? I am sure there will be plenty of car accident bc of this. This same thing happened to me many times. I really feel unsafe.

I'm no stranger to hybrid brakes; the transition between regen to actual brakes and what that feels like. I've driven hybrids for years. However, the brakes on my hybrid maverick seem odd. In most situations I chalk it up to the fact that every car is a little different and that's fine. But in one particular situation I feel like the brakes are dangerous.

If I'm in stop/go traffic or at a stop light and barely have my foot on the brake, it's enough to keep the car stopped. When I take my foot off the brake, (don't apply any gas pedal) and I go to quickly reapply the brake it's like nothing engages for the first 20%-30% of the break push...way past where I just had my foot when the truck was stopped. The brakes eventually engage but they go from 0% to 100% and the truck dips forward because of the harshness of the brakes. I'm afraid one of these times I'm going to roll into the back of the car in front of me.

Is this a hybrid brake thing? Does anyone else experience this?
Yes I see it. When I want to creep forward a foot or two. I have felt it was just one of those hybrid, or Maverick quirks. This is my first hybrid, so I don't know how other hybrids perform. It is a little scary,

Yes, that's exactly what I'm experiencing. He described it well.

I'm not saying I'm a perfect driver, but I can't imagine I'll ever adjust to it. I I'd have to accurately guess when the brakes are going to bite or not.

Yesterday my wife thought I was playing a joke on her because I stopped about 4 feet in front of the parking spot curb because the brakes bit down. She thought I was trying to be funny. Same errand, I nearly rear-ended a car at a stop light going idle speeds because I was so gradual on the brake as I tried to avoid upsetting the misses when the brake clamped down. This time they didn't bite and at the last second I pushed down hard and they finally stopped us.
I know this isn't the right answer but I've found that when you're in stop and go traffic if you push the low button on it seems to help with it somewhat. I sent a complaint to the HSTB just to nuge Ford to fix this problem, my complaint is when the brakes grab and sounds like something broke

My hybrid always seemed to "hit the brakes" a little hard just before coming to a stop; I'm assuming this is when the regen stopped and the actual brakes kicked in. The software update for the "idle surge issue" also completely eliminated this somewhat annoying braking issue; braking was even and smooth after that. Know, however, that that particular update is only for Mavericks produced before mid-March.
The software update had no effect on resolving braking problems for me.

I also have this issue.. It catches me a bit off guard, especially in stop and go situations...I have experienced the abrupt brake application when trying to feather the brakes. My old Prius hybrid was never this way , neither is the Volt I drive, when it's off full electric and in the ICE mode. Hoping someone finds a solution.

Agree. My 2012 Prius never did anything like this. Really need FORD to look into this before someone either rear ends one of us or we hit something.

I had a Honda Insight and never had this problem. I have felt it a few times on my Maverick Hybrid though.

From what I read in this forum and others not everyone has this issue. Since the computer controls everything, I've been told that this is a programming issue and will take a major update to correct this problem. I sure hope Ford corrects this major problem very soon. I have a 23 on order so hopefully, this issue will be addressed in the new build. Definitely a safety issue that needs an immediate fix!!

Good morning! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can assist with your braking concern.

Maybe it's the why I drive but when I'm coming to a stop I let up on the break to try to stop as softly as possible. It's something I have always done and it also works in my Maverick.
