Does anyone else think that $1,645 is pretty expensive for the Black Appearance Package on a Lariat based on what you are getting?
When you consider how much it would cost to have these changes made to an existing truck, I think it's a reasonable price tag, a bargain really.

Sure, $1,645 is worth it when comparing it to the cost of adding all the BAP items separately after the truck is built. The exterior items wouldn't be that difficult to swap out but I imagine the interior would be since there's multiple trim pieces. I do see why people say it's a "bargain" when looking at it from this perspective.

The original question though was about the value of the BAP on a Lariat factory order.

Lariat buyers are paying $3,500 to go from the XLT to Lariat, which includes the 18" wheel upgrade, Leather Seats, LED headlights/taillights, body colored door handles, body colored mirror caps, silver grille, plus all the rest of the items of course.

I don't know what the break down of all the extras is, but the point is when paying the $3,500 you are getting extra items over the XLT, which makes it "worth it". Apart from the black wheels in the BAP (~$795 upgrade), they are literally swapping out the items that you have paid extra for body colored with black colored ones and making you pay ~$850 to do that.

I'm guessing that someone at Ford has just overlooked the pricing of the BAP on the Lariat. I don't think the price for the BAP should be the same for the XLT and Lariat.

The $1,645 BAP makes more sense on the XLT as the exterior parts are not painted and you would be paying to have black painted ones i.e. you are getting something extra here. Also you are going from 17" XLT wheels to 18" BAP wheels in the same $1645 price. On the Lariat you have just paid extra to get the 18" wheels and are paying again to get the BAP wheels.

As an example, if you look at the BAP on the Ranger it gives you the 18" black painted wheels, spray in bed liner, and black running boards. These items alone make the BAP worth the price and the rest of the blacked out parts are just a bonus.

The BAP on the Lariat should have a black roof or spray in bedliner or something extra to make it worth the $1,645 cost.

I have a Lariat with the BAP ordered. If the interior picture of the Tremor is accurate and is how the Lariat will look with the BAP I think I'll be canceling it. I assumed all of the blue would be replaced with black. If the majority of the interior remains blue the black seats and trim don't look good to me. Does anyone know for sure if the blue remains with the BAP? Thanks.

Might be a taste question here, but - So you think the blue looks better with the brown seats?

Doesn't black go with everything?

Totally to each their own, just curious

Yes, I think the blue looks better with the brown seats than the black. I also am not a fan of the black door and dash trim next to the predominantly blue interior.

Yes, the blue will still be in all models. No Maverick will have an entirely black interior, regardless of BAP or Tremor. This keeps costs down to have those base components the same in each model/trim.

Thanks, Dave, but that's a bummer. I was hoping BAP meant all black interior. I understand Ford holding costs down but the blue/black combination doesn't look good to me.

Seeing as how the XL, XLT, Lariat, and Tremor all have the blue base, I'd say it is safe to assume it will be that way with the BAP. All the lightly color pieces (gray/orange/etc) on the dash, doors, and seat will be swapped to black.

Isn't it that active X fake leather stuff? Or is that a vinyl?
Lariats with BAP will come with Black Active X Vinyl (fake leather) XLT BAP trucks will come with black cloth.

Active x is definitely better than old school vinyl
After 60 years of technology it should be better than the old vinyl. But, it is still vinyl.

I wasn't sure about Active X upon ordering. But I can tell you now after having my truck over 20k miles and all seasons, I like my Active X better than leather.

It looks better, it feels great, and way, way more durable. You just don't get the old cow hide smell. If they used leather in this vehicle, it would be low quality anyway. Instead, they give you a super high quality synthetic. The same they use in the Mustang Mach-E.

I think the $1645, is a little high, but I know I don't really like the look of any of the wheel options except the FX4 package wheels and I'm not getting EB, or AWD so no FX4 package for me. So I know I would want to change the wheels at some point and when I have done this in the past I prefer factory wheels if possible since I have had aftermarkets that don't fit as well and have to have..... can't think of what they are called but the ring spacers.

By time I do that would be probably after my first set of tires was worn.... then I would have to sell the old ones....and that's not always as easy as I would like. plus the fact that I liked the other features of the BAP made it worth it to me.

I understand the question though.... why are you paying extra to swap it from brown to black on the seats. I always think in situations like this for the wheels....they are keeping the standard wheels you would be getting... lets just say the stock wheels are worth $500.... are these new wheels really worth $1300 ($800 black wheels and $500 for the stock wheels) It's pretty unlikely I would ever pay that much for wheels. Anyway....
