From the above pierce:

"and we like that the hybrid eliminates the turbo model’s annoying engine vibrations."

Can anyone with an EB comments on the annoying engine vibrations? Do you EB owner's find that to be true?
No idea what they're talking about.

The EB transmission jumps quickly into the higher gears if you are not getting on it too hard, creating a mild "lugging" sensation...and I think that's what they are referring to. Their Eco boost review went into more detail on the subject.
I drove a Ford Edge with the same engine and transmission for a week as a loaner a while back (Bumper scuff repair on my Maverick from shipping...) and experienced this. I have a light foot, and found the issue annoying as I had to punch it pretty good to get it to downshift. But if you like to push it around hard, you'll probably never notice it. It all depends on your driving habits.

I think they are driving too many electric cars. If you jump from an electric car to an ICE vehicle, sure, you can feel the engine. But if you have been using ICE your entire life, you will not be able to really feel the motors nowadays, especially at speed when the road vibrations take over.

I've got the fx4 package and the tires seem louder/rougher than my passenger car tires, but i don't recall any engine vibrations really. The engine makes a lot of low sounding "racket" which is more noticable when first starting off since there's less 'road noise" to drown it out. I guess that's mostly due to the lack of sound deadening material and no engine cover under the hood. At speeds above 45 mph, the eb seems fairly quiet to me. Back to the "it's a $20k truck"😁
Yeah, I have seen a lot of people on these forums talk about the noise this truck makes but every person who has ever ridden in my Maverick talks about how quite it is... Nobody I know drives a luxury vehicle but it begs the question what other people who complain are comparing this $20k truck to... I mean, I would probably have bought a Ridgeline too if I had $15K to $20K to blow on a few decibels.

Mla, these new fangled transmission have a learning logic, that adapts itself to the way you drive, you can erase it and get it to relearn, were the shift points are where what you like.

That is NOT what a score of "76" means on Consumer Reports. That is higher than most trucks score on Consumer Reports. I do not subscribe to CR, but I bet someone here can post some scores to illustrate this point, but I am fairly sure that the Ridgeline is their highest score for a not full sized truck. So if 81 is the high score, then 76/81 is pa 94% of the high score, which for 21k/38k which is about 56% of the entry level cost.
All "trucks" are scored pretty low by CR

Cr has pretty much always rated all trucks with full frames low so a 76 is really high for the Maverick. They seem to use reliability predictions mostly for their list of "Recommended" models. However, if a vehicle scores too low overall, they won't recommend it.

As for directly comparing the maverick to the Ridgeline, they really didn't have much of a choice other than the Ridgeline or the Santa Cruz. Neither of them has a full frame so they ride nicer, but give up serious off-roading capabilities. Doesn't seem like cost plays much into their rating system.

A number of years ago, CR rated a Tesla model a 99 which was the highest rating I have ever seen by at least 10 or 12 points. Can't remember the model, but I think it cost around $80 grand???

My 2.0 turbo AWD now has 11k miles now and if I had to say ANYTHING negative about it’s the radio n it doesn’t have the keyless ignition n I only get 24.4 mpg but I drive 80 plus mph around Atlanta. It’s a great truck but the dealer did soak me on the price at 34k before taxes but it was the only one around n they delivered the truck for another $450 from 350 miles away.

Are the city and hwy mpg flipped?
Noticed that too. Plenty of clueless people at CR who don't understand that Hybrids get their best MPG in city driving, even though hybrids have been around for 22 years now.

On the Ridgeline comparison, that is a bigger vehicle. Apples to oranges comparison.
Should have compared to the Hyundai Santa Cruz.
They did convey that you get more capability and comfort in the higher priced Ridgeline though, and if Honda had the good sense to put their very-good Hybrid (CRV, Accord) powertrain in the Ridgeline, it would transform it into something people in this era of expensive gasoline would like.

My Lariat FX4 is so quiet that I've literally forgotten to turn it off twice now.

I hate how the Ridgeline is occasionally considered it’s equal. It is a midsized unibody pickup that should be compared to the Ranger and Tacoma, not maverick and santa cruz. Like others have said, you could (or almost) buy 2 mavs for the price of 1 ridgeline.

I hope you people don’t mind me living vicariously through your Maverick posts. I can only hope that someday I’ll actually be driving the 22 EB Maverick I ordered, which is now being bumped to a 23. Would be nice to express an opinion (maybe someday).

I think your right ,the “Lugging” is pretty noticeable if you have a light foot, the truck seems to shift to a higher gear to soon . What bothers me about that is the owners manual for my 2019 wrangler stated the 2 worst things for an engine were excessive Idling and Lugging.
