I don't drive anywhere in Texas.

Fly into Austin, have a blast and fly out.

Problem solved.

Next!

Drive from one end of Texas to the other (about 800 miles) and tell me how many times you would have to stop to charge a 200 mile range EV and how long did you have to sit a the average charging station to get a full charge. Regurgitate on that a while.

I'd like to say yes, but as I live where it gets down to -25ºF to -40ºF in Winter, I don't think it would drive well in Winter. I'd take a plug in Hybrid, though!

Nope....while they sound interesting I think Biden is full of crap. The USA is not anywhere near ready for everyone to have an EV vehicle. The power grid couldn't handle the demand. In addition, I'd have to upgrade the electric service coming into my house in order to put a charging station as well as the electric panel. God only knows how much that would cost at today's crazy prices, just to charge it. Plus like others have posted the range EV's are getting are nowhere near adequate for travel. They may be great for local commutes to work and to go to the store, but traveling on vacation or sightseeing, NOPE. In my opinion they won't be ready until they have a range of 500 miles or more.
Plus If you use a fast charge and your credit card I'm reading you won't save anything !

100 mile range would be OK for me, 200 would be fantastic. Of course, I only drive about 3000 miles per year and no commute.

200 miles range would be amazing! If the price was right, I would consider selling the Volt, and become a 2 Maverick family, my current hybrid, and the e-Mav.

With the right charger it is just like a rest stop or a fuel stop. I listened to podcasts, and they always say don't charge to 100% takes to long. Charge at 60 or 70% and charge more saves time. More stops are better on road trips. Unless you have to be someplace tin q hurry

Not quite yet for me. I want the hybrid for day to day low cost operation but the Mav is also going to be the tow vehicle for our little 450lb teardrop trailer, so we want the ICE so we can roam/wander/get lost over the next few years. Our other car is a plug-in hybrid (Volvo XC60) and I love being able to run local errands on electric only. Made the recent $5/gal surge painless, as long as our trips were under about 20 miles.

Planning to trade in this Lariat Hybrid as soon as an EV Maverick is available., hoping it’s within the next 3+ years.

yes but only if it had the equal 500 mile range
Yep. I told the local Ford rep that if They wanted to hit a grand slam, the Lightning would need at least a 500 mile range for Texas truck owners 😉 Same would go for me with the Mav.

I'm getting the Lariat hybrid. I'd drop it like a hot rock for a Maverick Lariat EV.
Switching to an full EV Maverick would depend on range and price. I suspect a full EV Maverick would start north of $45K-55K and I like the lower price and mileage of the hybrid.

Besides, lithium batteries are full of chips. If we think we can't get Mavericks built now, just make them full EV.

I'm older and a Maverick hybrid trucklette is the right size truck for me and the wife.

No. I have family who live too far away to drive an EV. The hybrid is perfect for people who have places to go and people to see.

I've said it many times on this site I love love our Maverick hybrid... I've been blessed with driving owning cool cars my entire life and continue to do so... yet I'm just absolutely charmed by the hybrid Maverick. Wife and I will both grab the Maverick first... We are to the point we're are seriously looking to getting a second one....and now that it appears Ford is talking a plug-in hybrid we may hold off a little bit to see if that comes about... and if it does, we will place an order. But the main point of my response is, the Maverick hybrid is great!

Might consider a full EV in 10+ years when the infrastructure begins to catch up. At this point I like the ability to charge a hybrid without plugging in - no chance of getting stranded somewhere unless I'm stupid and let the fuel tank go empty. Wouldn't mind a higher capacity battery to further reduce ICE usage, though. Have a hybrid Fusion now, and get 40 mpg on the highway and 45 mpg in city driving.

I have found the Maverick's range to be closer to 600 miles myself. So I will say that if and when an EV Maverick is available with a 600 mile range, the price is in the mid twenties, a full charge can be done in ten minutes, and charging stations are as ubiquitous as gas stations are now....then I will absolutely get one. Until then I will remain satisfied driving my extremely cool and charming hybrid Maverick. 😊
