>> Touch grass is kinder than "go pound sand."

My favorite from my days in the UK is "Piss Off", delivered with a dismissive intonation only the British can master. A well-delivered "Piss Off" always made my day, even when I was on the receiving end.

I'm in the suburbs of Philly so I come in contact with enough attitude that I'm not going to get offended either way
Ainā€™t that the truth. Nothing like the any and Philly attitude. Itā€™s funny every time some goes with me they think everyone is a a hole. I laugh and say nope thatā€™s just how they are.

The Wright brothers didn't get us to the moon though the government did. Would have been pretty difficult for a private company and a couple of Brothers on a beach to come up with that kind of cash. Same with nuclear weapons, the military that ended world war II in our favor, etc. taxpayers help the airline industry all the time, they build airports, they build the infrastructure for the planes to get their materials, air traffic control, regulations, etc.
. If the world was simpler and countries like China weren't helping their businesses. I might agree with you a bit more there, but that's not the world we live in now. You're going to be bailing Ford out again, unless we let them go under or get bought, not because the unions make more than someone at 7-Eleven but because their products are going to be uncompetitive. They're pulling out a worldwide markets like Europe, China, basically failing there. They're going to be limited to a North American company only and then when the cheaper imports come in they'll be gone. The big 3 we're at their peak when they were almost entirely Union and today labor is a small cost in making a vehicle

Iā€™ve actually study that graph on union productivity. The fact is most that was delivered through better management and smoother operating procedures.
Iā€™m not sure all the specifics but I remember it being way off base from reality. Anyone whoā€™s worked in the auto industry knows first hand how untrue it is that workers are more productive past the 2000ā€™s than before. That also doesnā€™t touch the absolute over bloat of the union.

As for the Tesla being a lifestyle it absolutely is. The fact they they constantly deliver top sales for evā€™s while others struggle while being more expensive tells you itā€™s a brand or lifestyle. In fact I wasnā€™t the one that said it.

Elon said that was the goal and by all metrics they have succeeded. You can buy a cheaper ev and many different looks but Tesla still outsells them. Because itā€™s a status symbol and lifestyle at this point. The fact that a buddy of mine has a cyber truck on order because itā€™s a Tesla and he doesnā€™t even really like the look. Itā€™s a small sample but still true. Well and Elon said it himself. So either your correct and i am the one who doesnā€™t pay attention or maybe you donā€™t follow Tesla like some do.
I know that wasnā€™t your Chris but a response to the other guy.

Yeah in my defense I'm in Bucks county north of the city and I'm not a big fan of it. I realize a lot of people think it's charming and is sort of way but I could live without it. I just had to drive down to a machinery and hydraulic shop in manayunk. Not sure if you're familiar with that, but it is a nice little area but it's still a bit too crowded.

Well, Tesla doesn't outsell them worldwide now. Byd and China is beating them. I'm not a big Tesla fan and it's not even because of him. And by the way, I didn't like him back when everybody thought he was a lefty so it's nothing to do with that. My d-bag radar just went off with him. Yes, there are a lot of posers with Teslas, but I'm not the one who didn't say it was a lifestyle. They do sell a lot of cars. I think the model y was the best selling car in the world at one point and I don't think that is a lifestyle vehicle. The problem is that people that were buying it for that reason don't like Elon now for other reasons.
I don't think the point of the chart or my point with it at least was that unions made them more productive. The point was that the productivity of the American worker keeps going up, and yes part of that is innovation and automation. But that is also the American worker doing that, and yet the amount of money that goes to the average American worker goes down. While the amount of money that goes to the top increases. The point was that unions help balance that out a little. It's not saying the goal is to make it to USSR or anything. I think the guy at the top should make a lot more money. The question is just how much more.
I think the Cyber truck looks kind of ridiculous but I do appreciate people making different designs makes the world more interesting. I would like to see one but I have no interest in owning one. It looks extremely clausrtrophobic to drive. I like a nice open view

My friend bought a PHEV Escape. Itā€™s very similar to my ā€˜24 Maverick hybrid. He just opens the door on the fender and plugs it in to charge it. Whereas Iā€™m supposed to open the rear door, lift the seat, connect the battery charger , THEN plug in the extension cord to charge my 12v. battery to avoid the 12v battery issue.
Sorry Ford , but Iā€™m not going to miss an opportunity to complain about the low battery issue. I really like my truck other than that.

That is why Ford put the charging studs under the hood, so you can leave your doors locked and pretend the hood is just a big charging port:wink:
