Ceramic coating

Got mine coated a month ago and love it. Unless it is really dirty all I have to do is foam it up, hose it off and dry. Takes me about 10 minutes.

IMO all those $$$$ ceramic coatings aren't worth it. I got the meguiers ceramic wax (flourescent green bottle) and it's extreme easy to put on and off. Going on 4 months and it's still beading water like day 1. I think the bottle was $15.

Don't get suckered into having it professionally done for $800 to $1500, especially on a new vehicle. Most of the labor is in paint correction prior to applying the coating. Obviously you won't have any correcting to do on a brand new maverick

I got a couple of ceramic quotes from local detailres and decided to invest that money in a pressure washer and some accessories for it. There are some products containing silicon dioxide that are very easy to apply(spray and wipe), and allegedly provide several months of protection. I park on the street, so I can wash it once a week if I need to.

That's why I decided to go a bit in the middle with the CanCoat. Its sub $100 and can be done by a dummy like myself if I follow the directions carefully. Way better durability than the auto parts store options (no offense), but nowhere near the level of protection you get from the professional detailer applications. If it lasts 3 months before I can't tell it is even there anymore, so be it. Will have been a fun ride. Haha. I may tell a different tale after trying to apply it. Haha.

Yeah it is pretty crazy what they charge. Just got lucky a friend of mine owns the detailing business.

More than pleased with the result from the products mentioned previously here. Not seeking a detailing pro's eye-searing shine. If I need a mirror, there's already one on each side and three in the cab.

Agreed, heard good things about that turtle wax spray too. Gotta remember this is the Ford Maverick we are talking about detailing... The cheapest car currently for sale in America lol. Not some grandpa's AMG

My plan is to do a diy ceramic coating when the truck comes for less than $100. If done correctly it should offer protection for 5 years minimum, hopefully preventing possible rock chips from the added hard layer on top of the paint. I’ll use the spray stuff after washes too but that doesn’t offer near the protection that a cured ceramic coat will. It is a cheap truck but I want to have it look nice for as long as possible while also not spending a ton a money on it or a ton of time.

Applied Gtechniq CSL for $65 and am very glad I did. Polished the entire surface to remove any contamination and washed with Dawn followed by an isopropyl wipe down. Truck stays cleaner longer and is extremely easy to wash. Usually just a good rain keeps it clean. A Canada goose dive bombed me a few days ago and, even when dry, a damp cloth removed “it” with one light wipe. Bug guts on the front hardly even stick anymore. Best of all, a drag mark from something down the side came off with a microfiber. Done properly it lasts for several years. I have other cars that prove it. I don’t think $65 and an afternoon is too much to spend.

Might also want to look into graphene coating as that seems to be the new kid on the block. Easier to apply, similar protection/lasting power

I used the same thing, only problem I had was waterspots after it rains. A lot of elbow grease getting them off of that wax. It's like the coating is soft and the waterspots stick to it like a glue trap.
