    The worst years shown in the chart were Covid years. It will be interesting to see 2022 and 2023. I suspect they will show much improvement. Except Land Rover.

    The last two Fords we had (Ranger & Escape) were rated for 87 octane, but after a couple of years,they needed 91 octane to stop the pinging.

    If it bugs you a lot, sell it and order a new one. Oil analysis won’t provide any useful information.

    Sounds like the dealership turned it into a lemon. It’s also on Ford and the Air-Bag supplier, for the recall, and on Ford for not having the parts. This is why I haven’t had the airbag swap done. Too many horror stories.

  15. Airbag Recall Fraud

    The story seems to be paywalled so far, but the gist of it is that dealerships have faked the repair, and done shoddy work. Ford is coming after them. This is kinda why I didn’t have this recall fixed. My service guy scoffed when I told him my concerns. Now who’s scoffing?

    It is a bit heavy… for a car. But it was designed as a truck, and that’s why it feels just right to me.
