honestly coatings are overhyped a bit! that said have done a handful. id say that they do need care, and they need to be periodically cleaned more often than when it rains, since here thats like once a year except this year :p if kept clean and periodically topped up with something consumer grade they can last a good deal longer than waxes by. along shot

Hate being a contrarian but If you look at the origin of these sacrificial coatings and sealants, they are dealership profit generators that are marginally better than regular car wax.
You have that 100% correct...........folks look for the easy way out and hand applied wax hand rubbed is hard to beat , but you have to want to do it !...these dealer applied $1000 polish/sealant jobs are a ripoff..........most are common based silicone that readily buffs up to a high shine, but is NOT EVERLASTING BY ANY MEANS !!

i'm not sure why ceramic has such a stigma around it, maybe because there has been some misleading advertising about super long life, and people believe they have to do nothing to it ?

ceramic works well, very, very well. this from a guy who paste waxed cars with my father in the late 70's, did detailing as a side job for over a decade. i knew wax on, wax off, long before karate kid!

like anything, ceramic comes in many forms (cheap/mid/expensive) professionally applied, it is awesome. hand wash only, every 4 months a quick once over and it will last for years and years. the local shop was thrilled to see my old jeep, and how well it looked, they gave me the sprays for a yearly update.
if you want to keep your vehicle looking nice, it takes dedication, i don't care wether you use wax or ceramic. never use a drive through car wash, ever. harsh soap, swirl scratches.....ugh

front ppf with ceramic is great too. ok, i know, some will poo poo that also.

every carpro product for exterior and interior is top notch. collinite for wax, ceramic pro for professional install. turn on the garage stereo, crack a beer and start detailing.

I'm strongly considering getting the ceramic coating on my Alto Blue Lariat. I welcome any feedback from those who have had it applied to their Mav. Are you still supposed to occasionally wax the exterior as on a normal paint job, or does that mess it up?
I've used the Meguiar's ceramic spray twice a year since I picked up my Mav in March of 2023. Dirt seems to just rinse off easily. I tell everyone Ford or dealer must have applied something to the paint before delivery. Paint is very thin but stays super clean. I don't know , lol! :)
