Mileage already on it before taking possession of the keys: 32.

Agree that not being able to browse via the screen while in motion is ludicrous.

I cut pieces from a roll of Gorilla Grip non-adhesive shelf liner to sizes suitable for lining the bottom of the little bins and also the floor of the under rear seat bin.
The darkish blue a pretty good complement to the blue on the dash.

Don't know if this will do but perhaps you could cobble something together such as I did on the cheap to provide a dedicated courtesy light for the center console tray. Didn't want to use a data port for something which requires only current...

Not only a touch more secure (IMHO) but also easy to check on them by periodically glancing out the rear window.
