Note I haven't tested this yet to see if it actually works but I can enable and select it in the vehicle driver assistance options.

This mod so far is confirmed selectable using a 4 inch cluster on 2.0L ecosport. engine. FWD / AWD shouldn't matter and neither should trim level as long as the cluster is the 4 inch version.

First we need to enable this in the IPMA. It may also require TSR to be enabled but I am not disabling mine to test. The IPMA setting may also be different for vehicles with GPS NAV systems installed.

IPMA
706-01-02
xxxx-*xxx-xxx
* = 6
This will enable it without errors
* = 9
This enables it also but knocks out the pre- collision assist. This maybe correct for vehicles with GPS Nav systems installed.

Next we need to enable it in the cluster
IPC
720-09-02
x*xx-xxxx-xxxx
* = 0
off
* = 8
on

That is it and you should see it under the vehicle assistance settings and the mode should also be selectable using the steering wheel switch.

If it does work Ford should have included it for free. This is a life saving feature.

I had a wrong-way driver just miss me and I didn't see them until .0003 seconds. Even if the alert went off, I am sure people will look at the dashboard to figure out what the alert is, then look up just see them hit them.

Is this supposed to warn the driver that he or she is driving the wrong way down a one way street? Or alert the driver of another car coming at you the wrong way?

In either case, disabling pre collision assist in favor of this doesn't seem like a good tradeoff

This doesn't alert you to being on the wrong side of the road or drivers heading your way. It is supposed to recognize wrong way signs like when you go the wrong way on an off ramp.

The car reads and notifies the driver of the wrong ways signs. Not the fact the there is an oncoming car. This should avoid a head on collision without a close call.

You can have both enabled. This is a sign recognition mode for wrong way signs. It doesn't interfere with pre collision assist working.

The reason for wrong-way drivers is usually impaired drivers. Do you think an alert on the dash will stop an impaired driver?

As an aside it may also be possible to get the evasive steering assist feature working. Even though Ford only officially implements it using both the front facing camera and radar sensor used for ACC, Bosch who builds it says it also works with just a front facing camera installed.

The option can be enabled in the 4 inch cluster under pre-collision assist options. Just a matter of determining if there is an IPMA setting that activates it only using the front facing camera. The power steering and if applicable ABS module settings should be the same as on a Lariat with the lux package that has ACC.

If even 1 wrong way driver stops from the warning it is well worth it. We don’t know how many impaired drivers won’t react to the warning. We also don’t know how many non impaired drivers would react to it. But I would prefer they all get warned, and some stop, before they hit my car and take my life. Do you prefer the first warning be your car and family?

Well, that and some very poorly designed freeway interchanges thanks to ADOT...
Yeah, not just impaired drivers. There's been a couple of times my wife and I have taken the wrong side of a median because of glare, one time I was lost in downtown Houston and took a wrong turn, and one time I thought I was on a one- way street and it wasn't.

None of those are very often and we didn't wreck in any of them, but if we're designing smarter cars it's definitely worth adding. Maybe track what side of the yellow stripe you're on as well?

If anyone who does the mod, can they confirm it does work and recognizes do not enter or wrong way signs.
